Houseman (Housekeeping) - Full-time / Part-time

Summary of Job:

Ensuring quality and clean facilities throughout the hotel, a houseman or housekeeping employee cleans lobbies, halls, guestrooms and bathrooms. A houseman stocks guest rooms with towels and linens, furnishings and any other supplies a guest may need or request. Housemen also vacuum carpets, dust furniture, empty wastebaskets and mop bathroom floors. In larger hotels, a houseman staff may report to assistant housekeepers, floor supervisors and executive housekeepers.

Essential Job Functions:

• Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms and other work areas so that health standards are met
• Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and/or draperies, using vacuum cleaners and/or shampooers
• Empty wastebaskets, empty and clean ashtrays, and transport other trash and waste to disposal areas
• Sweep, scrub, wax, and/or polish floors, using brooms, mops, and/or powered scrubbing and waxing machines
• Keep storage areas and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy
• Polish silver accessories and metalwork such as fixtures and fittings
• Replenish supplies such as drinking glasses, linens, writing supplies, and bathroom items
• Sort, count, and mark clean linens, and store them in linen closets
• Request repair services and wait for repair workers to arrive
• Deliver television sets, ironing boards, baby cribs, and rollaway beds to guests' rooms
• Hang draperies, and dust window blinds
• Move and arrange furniture, and turn mattresses
• Carry linens, towels, toilet items, and cleaning supplies, using wheeled carts
• Follow all required safety and standard operating procedures
• Follow all company and regulatory policies
• Report lost and found to Internal Supervisor or Hotel Supervisor

Qualifications:

• Must display strong attention to detail
• A customer service spirit
• Great attitude and strong work ethic
• High School diploma or GED preferred, but no necessary
• Prior housekeeping, cleaning or customer service experience preferred
• Must have schedule flexibility for both AM/PM shifts, weekends and holidays

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Must meet company and hotel grooming standards
• Ability to work with a variety of cleaning equipment and chemicals
• Ability to perform all duties as instructed
• Ability to lift 25 pounds
