Streamwood Behavioral Healthcare System (SBHS) is a 178-bed acute care facility located in Streamwood,IL and has been providing mental health treatment to the Chicagoland community and the state of Illinois since 1991. We are dedicated to offering services to meet the ever-changing emotional and behavioral healthcare needs of children, adolescents,adults and their families.

SBHS has a registry School Nurse / Paraprofessional 1:1 position available. Under the direction of the Principal of Innovations Academy, the School Nurse/ Para Professional 1:1 Aide provides his/her assigned student with educational and behavioral programs that will enable them to reach their fullest educational potential, while rebuilding their self-esteem. Due to the physical needs of the student requiring the 1:1, this position requires a nursing background. Within the nursing role, this position may also support the overall school mission and assist in providing optimal learning opportunities by supplying the services needed to identify health related barriers to education and address each student's health needs thereby improving their ability to learn. The School Nurse will participate/assist in handling crisis situations, especially those involving medical issues, and will comply with the code of ethics of the nursing profession and adhere to the standards of the Nurse Practice Act.

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing is required. A minimum of one (1) year experience in an emergency room, pediatric office, school or hospital care is preferred. Current RN license to practice by the Illinois State Board of Nursing is required. Primary Source Verification shall be required through Illinois Department of Professional Regulations .
