3M is seeking a Maintenance Electrician for the Advanced Materials Divison located in Lexington, KY (South). Ready to be part of what's next?

Job Summary :

The person hired for the position of Maintenance Electrician will diagnose complex mechanical and electrical problems, install, troubleshoot, repair, modify, and make adjustments to equipment and mechanical devices used in production, laboratory, office, and utility areas. Troubleshoot and repair of specialty production equipment including high temperature furnaces, ovens, high vacuum equipment, sputter coating machines, class 4 lasers, welders and CNC Lathes and Mills. The technician must recognize opportunities for equipment optimization, coordinate the installation, troubleshooting, and modifying of equipment to meet the needs of the process. Design, build and install equipment used in the production process. This includes Programmable Logic Control (PLC), Human Machine Interface (HMI) and all controls used for the newly designed or upgraded equipment.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

- Troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical/electronic problems with production equipment to prevent recurring issues

- Identify and implement opportunities for improvement to manufacturing equipment (Lean Six Sigma)

- Perform required shop administrative duties including the writing of technical documents and communicating with suppliers and contractors

- Train craftspeople in maintenance of new and modified facility and process equipment

- Must be able to use SAP Plant Maintenance Module to check for assigned tasks and projects, write purchase requisitions, input labor hours for each job completed and parts procurement

- Assist engineering in the field checkout, installation, and maintenance of new equipment

- Troubleshoot and repair complex high vacuum systems and controls

- Update and maintain necessary maintenance manuals, prints and parts lists

- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and make standard adjustments to production and plant equipment as directed by plant engineering lead and/or supervisor

- Coordinate and perform preventive maintenance tasks and complex machine setups

- Validate repairs by operating production equipment

- Setup and operate shop equipment

- Read and work to the indicated accuracy, specifications and tolerances as detailed on engineering drawings, machine assembly prints, machine construction prints, pneumatic and hydraulic schematics, blueprints, sketches, equipment manuals and vendor diagrams

- Setup, operate and interpret precision testing and measuring instruments to the instrument manufacturer's specification and accuracy

- Keep work area neat and orderly, contribute efforts toward the overall cleanliness and safety of the shop and clean up the general working area (shop and/or facility) at the completion of each job. 5S

- Apply safe work methods when performing the job requirements in hazardous and non-hazardous environments so as to avoid personal injury, injury to co-workers or damage to company property

- Report unsafe work conditions or equipment operation to supervision immediately

- Perform other duties and tasks not specifically listed above which might be necessary to conduct company business in an effective and efficient manner as established by 3M

This position will require:

- Rotational overtime as needed

- Rotational weekend work as needed

- Working on holidays as needed

- Short notice shift coverage

- Working a fixed first shift (Monday -- Friday 7:00 a.m. -- 3:30 p.m.)

- Obtaining and maintaining a license in HVAC+R

- Occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs. unassisted

Basic Qualifications:

- Possess a High School Diploma/GED or higher

- Possess a two (2) year technical degree or higher in a maintenance field OR minimum three (3) years of industrial maintenance experience

- Possess a current and valid Electricians license

Preferred Qualifications:

- Minimum six (6) years of industrial maintenance experience

- Possess a technical degree and minimum three (3) years of industrial maintenance experience

- Previous HVAC experience

- Knowledge of SAP Plant Maintenance Module

- Knowledge of or experience in Lean Six Sigma Kaizen
