The Summer Internship Program is a competitive 10-week program that gives college students interested in the retail industry the opportunity to work in an inspirational and dynamic culture. Working closely with your business partner, you'll have an inside look at what goes on behind the scenes at a major retail/fashion company. As a 2016 Summer Intern with dressbarn, you will benefit from on the job training and mentoring along with participation in professional development events, projects and workshops. This is a paid summer internship program that will begin June 6th and conclude August 12th . Summer Interns will receive the opportunity to enhance their interpersonal skills, build professional relationships and of course, build their resumes.

The Location Planning Summer Intern will work with cross-functional partners including: Merchandise Planners, Merchants, and Allocators to maximize sales, inventory and margin opportunities at the attribute/store level through the analysis of historical data and current business trends.

Learning Outcomes:

* Utilize historical data and current business trends to drive and support buying strategies and enhance future product offerings.

* Develop understanding of in-season location department/class/subclass projections that drive sales and inventory targets for Allocations in order to maximize product placement and profitability.

* Work with cross-functional partners across the organization.

Job Activities:

* Collect and analyze store sales trends to determine optimal product flow to stores.

* Develop in-depth understanding of location plans down to the Dept./class/subclass level that tie to the Merchandise Financial Plan.

Special Assignments/Projects:

Reassess current Climate designations to optimize product placement and flow of product by climate. Analysis includes understanding the dynamics between historical sales and inventory as well as APS style performance by Climate at the category level. Objective is to understand category trends/performance based on current Climate designations to identify go forward opportunities for seasonal categories and revise Climate designations to drive to future product strategies.

Requirements Qualifications

* Strong verbal and written communication skills.

* Candidates with experience in: data analysis and prior related work experience.

* Upper-class undergraduate students majoring in Finance, Mathematics, Retail Management or related field preferred. Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred

* Proficiency in MS Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. Must be highly proficient in Excel.
