POSITION PURPOSE -
The Senior Systems Engineer serves as a System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) Engineer and a key member of the organizations’ Systems Center Infrastructure Team. Primary responsibilities include patch management, application packaging and distribution, operating system deployment (OSD), IT system security related issues, threat mitigation and reporting, analyzing data to spot trends, managing patches for software certifications, data collection and reporting. Provides highly technical and/or specialized guidance concerning automation solutions to complex information processing problems related to the distributed computing environment. The Senior shall be knowledgeable in multiple current technology areas, including client computer hardware and operating systems, end-user desktop software, remote management, and end-user device security management and patching. Team members shall be directly responsible for the development, integration and production SCCM server infrastructure suites on multiple LANs and looked to include server and application configuration, project documentation, C&A support, and production Tier III support for the enterprise customer base.
MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES –
Perform installation, maintenance and support of system software, hardware and infrastructure and user support for moderately complex projects. May oversee this effort if acting in team lead capacity. Perform store & SSC engineering and roll-out implementation. Perform configuration, debugging and support for infrastructure platform for moderately complex projects. Perform root cause analysis for service interruption recovery; create preventative measures. Provide technical direction to System and Associate Engineers, Operations Specialists, and contractors. Interface with Business Stakeholders on all applicable projects. Update manager on all escalated issues.
NATURE AND SCOPE –
Typically reports to Manager, Information Technology; responsible for helping others and providing on-the-job training or guidance.
ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS –
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS –
EDUCATION REQUIRED –
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED.
YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE - 3
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS –
Frequent periods are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about; occasionally there may be a need to stoop or lift light objects (typically less than 8 pounds).
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS –
Knowledge and experience with computer hardware, operating systems and system software.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS –
- SCCM 2012 deployment and infrastructure knowledge including troubleshooting experience of large environments
Full understanding of SCCM 2012 Hierarchy including troubleshooting (BDP/PDP)
Ability to create Advertisement/Collections/Packages/Applications within an SCCM 2012 environment
Understanding of setup/use/troubleshooting of software deployment 'Maintenance Windows'
Full understanding of downloading and deploying Software Updates within SCCM 2012
Understanding of Operating System Deployment (OSD) in SCCM 2012
Reporting with Systems Management Center, Systems Management Server or SCCM 2012
Leveraging WMIC and PowerShell Scripting experience while leveraging SCCM cmdlets
SCCM 2012 Site/Client Troubleshooting, Boundaries, Replication, and Remediation
Using Configuration Manager Trace Log Tool and analyzing the data reported
Understanding the different types of Inventory and Content PreStaging
Creating TSQL Queries and Reporting experience with the SCCM database
Evaluate alternatives for deploying and supporting applications in a managed environment
Provide Tier 3 support for escalated issues in relation to application deployment and SCCM/SQL Infrastructure
Evaluates current procedures and processes for accomplishing objectives and continuously develops and implements improved practices
Responsible for proper escalation, communications, and management of production system problems
Applicant must be able to work in a team environment with other systems administrators as well as work with other computer/facility support organizations and work well multi-tasking various related efforts
Must have good communications skills, both written and verbal and will be responsible for documentation of all aspects of various system installation and configuration efforts step-by-step
