Chemical Operator

Job Description

Schedule:

Rotating

3 day shifts 6:30 AM – 6:30 PM (36 hours)

3days off

4 night shifts 6:30 PM – 6:30 AM (48 hours)

Week 1: 3 Days 6:30 AM – 6:30 PM (Day)

Week 2: 4 Days 6:30 PM – 6:30 AM (Night)

Week 3: 3 Days 6:30 PM – 6:30 AM (Night)

Week 4: 4 Days 6:30 AM – 6:30 PM (Day)

Pay rate:

$14/hour plus DOE

MUST HAVE CHEMICAL PLANT EXPERIENCE.

Duties:

1. Material Handling

· Unloads tank trucks into storage tanks.

· Receives raw materials and supplies, stows according to inventory management system.

· Selects materials from inventory according to written instruction and moves to staging areas.

· Packages products and places into storage according to inventory management system.

· Loads trucks.

· Keeps appropriate records of material movements performed.

2. Process

· Stands watch on Distributed Control System. Is expected to secure help when trouble is detected on anything but most routine matters.

· Assists loading raw materials into process equipment according to written instruction.

· Takes samples as needed.

· Observes operation of equipment and communicates problems.

· Cleans all equipment in accordance with instructions.

· Keeps logs and records when detailed to do so.

3. Safety and Housekeeping

· Follows all established safety rules and uses personal protective gear as appropriate.

· Acts in a responsible manner to assure the safety of oneself and other people in the area, and safeguards Company equipment and property from harm or loss.

· Participates in Company plans for emergency or contingency actions.

· Uses in-plant hazard warning systems (HMIS or NFPA) and MSDS’s to learn of hazards of using chemical materials before attempting operations that may result in an exposure.

· Immediately reports all items of equipment or supply found to be unserviceable, and does not use such items.

· Reports all injuries, accidents, and “near misses” promptly.

· Assists in the performance of corrective or preventive maintenance.

· Maintains the workplace in an orderly fashion at all times.

· Disposes rubbish regularly. Cleans up spillage promptly. Performs assigned housekeeping.

· Cleans workplace continually, to maintain its appearance in “showcase” condition.

4. Environmental

· Actively prevents chemicals from escaping plant containment systems into the air, water, or ground.

· Immediately reports to plant management all accidents which allow escape of chemicals.

· Follows established plant procedures for the avoidance of exposure or release into the environment of chemicals, in conformance with state and Federal laws.

Reports to:

Shift Leader or Supervisor. Operations on shifts will be overseen to assure compliance with procedures and standards.
