Job Description

• American Girl, New York is three floors and 42,000 square-feet filled with things girls love! Located on 5th Avenue in the heart of midtown Manhattan near Rockefeller Center, American Girl Place New York features the company's flagship line of historical and contemporary dolls, accessories, clothing, and books.
  In addition to shopping, girls and their families can top off their special day at American Girl Place with a fun and fancy meal in our Cafe, a visit to the Doll Hair Salon, or a trip to our Signature Studio to create customizable doll/girl clothing.
  
  WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
  We currently have an opportunity for a full time Assistant Visual Manager. We offer a competitive salary plus medical, dental, vision, 401k, and merit compensation plans.
  
  Purpose of Position:
  The primary responsibility of the Assistant Visual Manager is to assist the Visual Manager in ensuring that the store adheres to the visual merchandising and display standards set by the company. This position will be responsible for:
  
  Providing visual support to all store divisions including retail, marketing and restaurant
  
  Collaborating with other store visual team members in the design of new visual concepts for store windows and ledges
  
  Planning and executing merchandising floor sets/visual displays
  
  Designing and communicating visual proposals and plans using both computer software and other means
  
  Preparing and submitting work orders for all visual/signage/merchandising needs in an appropriate and timely fashion
  
  Managing and supervising a team of 5; prepare work schedules; participate in the development of each team member
  
  Assist with maintaining visual budget and department operations
• Maintaining studio in a neat, organized, and safety conscious manner

Experience, Education & Skills

You have:
Analytical skills and are capable of synthesizing and prioritizing a large volume of information

Requirements:

BFA in Visual Communication or comparable field of study

Minimum of 5 years in a retail visual merchandising environment required

Prior leadership and supervisory experience required

Strong construction skills/knowledge of tools

Ability to work independently and quickly within a team setting

Highly organized; execute projects from inception through build out

Experienced user of Microsoft Office Suite

Work schedule requires early morning shifts, some weekend work, as well as overnights Portfolio required to apply
