JOB DESCRIPTION
DEPARTMENT: FOOD AND BEVERAGE
JOB TITLE: BANQUET SERVER
REPORTS TO: BANQUET CAPTAIN, F&B MANAGER, DIRECTOR OF CATERING
FLSA: HOURLY
POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides a high quality catering service for banquets, concessions, coffee cart and events.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Serves food to guest with high level of customer service.
•Must understand and practice the concept of teamwork.
•Maintain high standards of safety and cleanliness in all areas of the Convention Center.
•Must strive to provide guest with a memorable experience and exceed their expectations by anticipating their needs.
•Assist with collecting all banquet equipment to include flatware, china, glassware, and serving pieces needed for each event.
•Prepared garnishes, beverages, condiments, and breads.
•Clean and fill salt and pepper containers, sugar dishes, creamers, etc.
•Assist with preparation and set-up of event room when necessary.
•Prepare tables with place settings as instructed.
•Establish and maintain positive client relationships.
•Breakdown tables and banquet equipment after each event.
•Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
•Must have attention to detail.
•Must have good oral and written communication skills and understand instructions and guest request.
•Must have strong customer service skills.
•Must be able to adapt to changes in the work environment, managing competing demands, frequent changes, delays or unexpected events.
•Must have current food handler’s certification.
•Must complete Alcohol Compliance Training.
WORKING CONDITIONS
•Daily lifting up to 20 lbs., constant reaching, stooping, standing and walking. Must be able to balance serving trays and have good manual dexterity.
•Required to move around the facility; to stand for long hours during events; talk and hear.
•This position requires work inside and outside of the building, parking lots included and some exposure to adverse conditions.
•Must be able to work extended and/or irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holiday’s as needed. High noise level.
•Knowledge of occupational hazards and applicable safety practices.
•Ability to demonstrate excellence in everything, and continually seek improvement in results.
QUALIFICATIONS
•High School diploma/GED required
•One year’s experience in food industry.
•Ability to work with limited supervision.
•Must have a professional attitude and appearance.
