On behalf of Battelle, Headway Workforce Solutions is seeking Field Interviewers to recruit and conduct research interviews with adults in and around Inglewood, CA for the African American Eye Disease Study (AFEDS) – which is an ongoing study. This study will examine the eye health of older African Americans 40 and older in Inglewood, CA.

Position Information:

Field Interviewers will be responsible for conducting door-to-door household enumeration within Inglewood. Geographic areas were chosen by Census tract based on demographics – and eligible households received informative letters about the study and how they can contribute. Field Interviewers will conduct a 20-minute screener with a member of the household to determine if there are any eligible candidates living at the residence. Field Interviewers will then be responsible for explaining the study to the respondent, obtaining informed consent, conducting a 45-minute in-person CAPI interview, and then scheduling the respondent for an extensive visual exam. In addition, participants have the opportunity to receive up to $30 in gift cards for their participation

Field Interviewers are required to:

  • Recruit and complete research interviews with participants
  • Complete data transmittal and administrative tasks
  • Be proficient in the use of computers, tablets, iPads, etc.
  • Work flexible schedules, primarily during weekday evening and daytime weekend hours, with daytime weekday hours as necessary, 20-40 hours per week, to accommodate participant schedules.
  • Use personal, reliable vehicles for travel to assigned areas. Time and mileage will be reimbursed for work conducted inside the specific study boundary at a federal rate.
  • Attend a paid 3 day training session in LA that will be directed by Battelle
  • Have a minimum of a High School Diploma or GED
  • Pass a background check, including a drug screen

Strong candidates will be talented, experienced individuals who possess excellent communication and organizational skills, have the ability to follow and document study procedures, possess independent work habits, can accurately complete assigned tasks in a timely manner, and can adhere to strict rules regarding project confidentiality.

Pay for this position will start at $15.75/hour, but experience will be taken into consideration.
