Headway Workforce solution, on behalf of RTI International, is seeking field staff for the Survey of Prison Inmates. Field interviewers are responsible for conducting face to face research interviews with inmates at 350 prisons in several states across the country. Position Type and Description

This position is to be filled as a part time job offering an average of 30 hours/ week. The data collection period is expected to last through October 2016. During the data collection period, FI’s will be staying in hotels. We are looking for individuals who will be able to work during daytime hours, occasionally evening hours, and rarely weekends. This position does require travel over 300 miles for up to five days (which would include travel time and interviewing). 

Major Objectives and Areas of Responsibility 

  • Must have a valid ID that can be used to gain access to many prison facilities
  • Must live over 200 miles of the sampled area(s)
  • Be available to work, on average, 3 days in a given week as work is available
  • Have a valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle or reliable transportation
  • Be willing to travel in varying temperatures and weather conditions
  • Be willing to travel reasonable distances to reach assigned prison facilities
  • Have legible handwriting and meticulous attention to detail
  • Be able to complete, organize, safely store, and ship paperwork in a timely fashion
  • Be able to document and navigate through a tablet
  • Be able to maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Be able to adhere to project requirements
  • Have access to wifi
  • Be comfortable working in a prison facility face-to-face with inmates
  • Be able to adapt to various social environments and areas;
  • Be flexible in their schedules in order to be available during week with occasional evening hours and rarely weekends
  • Be available and prepared for all scheduled conference calls with your Field Supervisor or any RTI project managers weekly, at a minimum.
  • Be able to obtain, safeguard, and submit receipts for all expenses regardless of the amount in order to be compliant with client protocol and to be reimbursed.

Training

Field Interviewers will be expected to attend an in–person paid training. Training for this SPI project will be week of June 20th and is located in Raleigh, NC. Attendance at training is mandatory. Trainees must successfully complete training to continue employment on the project.
