Duties of this position are to serve our guests in the Beaver Creek Metro District (Beaver Creek Ski Resort located in Eagle County, Colorado). There are between 500 and 5000 people in the resort, depending on the season. Beaver Creek Public Safety works under a fire contract with Eagle River Fire Protection District (ERPFD), responding to fire and EMS calls within the resort. ERFPD is support for EMS transport with Eagle County Paramedic Services (ECPS).

The primary duties for the Security Public Safety Officer include but are not limited to:

  • Interacting with property-owners, guests, and employees
  • Assisting guests, residents, and employees of Beaver Creek with vehicle pull-outs, jump-starts, vehicle-unlocks, intrusion alarms and motor vehicle accidents
  • Consistently providing a very high level of customer service
  • General resort safety
  • Fire, Rescue and EMS response
  • Enacting general emergency procedures
  • Making critical or difficult decisions in urgent situations and/or with limited information
  • Coordinating response and responding to fire and medical emergencies with the local fire authority and EMS provider
  • Using and Directing use of resort and county radio systems
  • Familiarity of emergency and law enforcement services
  • Notifying appropriate public service partners
  • Adapting to wide variety of dynamic situations
  • Managing and resolving tier-two (transferred from other departments) customer service issues
  • Enforcing all Beaver Creek road, animal and property regulations
  • Ensuring the proper and lawful use of all Vail Resorts properties
  • Responsibility for bank deposits
  • Traffic control and pedestrian safety on roadways within the resort and coming into the resort
  • Detecting, mitigating and/or reporting any safety problems or misuse of company property
  • Investigating incidents
  • Writing and filing reports
  • Developing and conducting shift training
  • Regularly and consistently attending meetings and trainings during the work day
  • Occasionally attending meetings and trainings outside of the regular work week
  • Additional duties may include but are not limited to: inspecting AEDs, managing and/or making keys, restocking first aid kits, updating locks and keys and more
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Current Colorado Firefighter I and or II required
  • Colorado or National Registry EMT or higher certification - required
  • Current CPR for Healthcare Provider - required
  • Current Colorado Hazardous Materials Operations - required
  • High school diploma or equivalent - required
  • Valid US Driver's License - required
  • Clean driving record and background check - required
  • Able to obtain NWCG Wildland Fire Fighter type II certification –preferred, required within one year of hire
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal
  • Great interpersonal skills - required
  • In-person interviews - required
  • Cover Letter and Resume - required
  • College degree - preferred
  • Driver Operator Certifications - preferred
  • Hazardous Materials Technician or higher levels of Hazardous Materials training - preferred
  • NWCG Wildland higher levels of training - preferred
  • Extensive customer service skills and experience
  • Knowledge of Beaver Creek and the Eagle County a plus
  • Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays and evenings
  • Must be able to work shift work, 12 hour shifts(6 weeks days/6 weeks nights)
