Home Energy Medics is adding members to their team of highly skilled and extremely motivated staff.We are a family owned, highly respected, full service home performance company.Home Energy Medics is a fast growing company that focuses on home energy auditing, air sealing and insulation, HVAC, and home energy consulting.We have high standards focusing on customer respect, improving client's comfort, reducing energy consumption, being attentive to detail, and following the latest in industry best practices.

The Home Energy Medics Energy Auditor/Comfort advisor provides services to home owners in the Northern Virginia/Washington, DC area.  The Energy Auditor/Comfort Advisor performs energy audits for homeowners and then works with the homeowner to help them proceed into the comfort/energy efficiency improvement retrofit process.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Conducts energy audits
- Listens to and carefully records homeowner concerns. Assesses home to address these concerns during energy audit and follow-up report.
- Measures dimensions of the home and records home style and basic construction data while also conducting a visual inspection of the whole building for energy-related issues and/or other problems (i.e. moisture).
- Collects information on all heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) mechanical systems.
- Performs blower door infiltration test and uses infrared camera to document findings.
- Evaluates existing insulation levels and other thermal barriers.
- Performs combustion safety testing on all combustion equipment (water heater, boiler, furnace, oven, etc.)
- Evaluates the house with a 'whole system' approach.  This considers the impacts of insulation and air sealing as well as HVAC system changes on the homeowners reported comfort, energy efficiency, and indoor air quality in addition to occupant health and safety. 


Creates written energy audit reports
- Processes and evaluates data and information collected during the energy audit.
- Recommends cost-effective steps to improve comfort, safety, and energy efficiency savings  solutions to the identified problems.  Conducts research on home performance issues as needed.
- Follows an established format for report generation (data analysis, IR & still photo capture, energy modeling, prioritized work scope, etc.)

Homeowner education and sales
- Reviews report, project work scope, and contracts with homeowner.
- Sells the benefits of home performance recommendations and energy improvement measures  to homeowner.
- Promotes best practices in the field of home performance.
- Educates homeowners on rebates, tax incentives, and funding sources for retrofit work. 
- Proactively follows up with customers to answer questions about recommended improvements and promotes moving forward with those improvements.

Qualifications:
Skills and Abilities
- Must be organized, meticulous, and able to prioritize tasks and manage time well.
- Proven leadership qualities with excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong team player with excellent collaboration skills. 
- Must be able to effectively communicate with a diverse clientele and establish a strong rapport with customers.
- Proven background in providing high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office products (Word and Excel) along with other internet technologies, social media, cloud computing and email.
- Ability to work independently, manage day-to-day project activities, and proceed with objectives without supervision.
- Ability to handle and resolve problems under pressure.
- Desire to learn the principles and current practices of building science.

Basic Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree highly desired. (engineering, science, math, communications or business preferred).
- Reliable transportation to office and job sites.
- Building Performance Institute Building Analyst and Envelope professional certifications are highly desired but training can be provided.
- Building construction experience or knowledge is highly desired.
- Sales and/or customer service experience is highly desired.

Working Conditions
- This position requires physical effort and candidates must be able to climb stairs and ladders and lift up to 30 pounds.
- Must be able to tolerate reasonable exposure to confined spaces such as attics and crawlspaces.

Additional Requirements:
- Candidates will be required to pass or maintain BPI certifications and/or other state licensing requirements and/or training as a condition of employment.
- Criminal background check and drug testing is required.
- Availability to schedule appointments with customers on some evenings and weekends.
- US citizen or permanent resident status is required.
- Must maintain a professional appearance in a variety of settings.
- Home Energy Medics and its worksites are tobacco-free environments.

Salary & Benefits: Excellent pay and benefits package that includes paid holidays, vacation, health care supplement, retirement, and consideration for relocation.  Salary is commensurate with background and experience and will be competitive for the industry.  Performance based commission in addition to base salary available when fully trained. Tools and equipment will be supplied to perform job duties. Starting pay for this position is $45,000 - $50,000 annual based on experience in addition we offer Performance based bonuses.
