The Time Warner Cable Corporate office currently seeks a Software Engineer for our Systems Applications Development Department. Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position.
Essential Job Functions:
Responsibilities for this position include development of new software and features for TWC infrastructure including but not limited to device configuration, call routing, subscriber walled-garden, and service provisioning. In addition to new development, the candidate is also required to troubleshoot and bug-fix defects with software and OS related issues.
The candidate will operate as a member of a specialized development-oriented engineering team. Must be comfortable sharing ideas, discussing solutions, and receiving feedback throughout the development process. This team is responsible for a wide range of in-house developed applications that have a direct impact on the customer experience. The candidate must have strong attention to detail and maintain customer focus throughout development.
Develop software to integrate COTS applications within the existing Time Warner Cable infrastructure. Support other teams within Systems Engineering during cross-functional projects.
Analyze product requirements and engineer solutions to meet them. Determine most appropriate solution for addressing requirements be it in-house development or integration of COTS software. Solutions must meet both time and cost constraints and stand up to peer review.
Contribute to project planning, architecture specification, and implementation planning for application development tasks. Determine accurate level of effort and timeframe for project completion.
Thoroughly document solutions including authoring of functional specifications, design documentation, installation, and operations guides. Work with test engineers to ensure creation of accurate test plans and procedures. Provide operational support when issues arise in production.
Job Requirements:
* Experience developing in dynamically typed languages (Ruby)
* Understanding of data serialization mechanisms such as JSON, XML, and YAML
* Experience with MySQL – administration, table definition, and interacting with the database in code.
* Strong Internet technology fundamentals (HTTP, DNS, SSL/TLS, DHCP)
* Understanding of Web API technologies such as REST and SOAP
* Understanding of IP networking, firewalls, TCP/UDP protocols
* Excellent written and oral communication
* Comfortable working in a Linux / Unix environment
* Ability to work independently and ramp up quickly in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
*Experience developing in C/C++ or Java
* Experience with software packaging mechanisms such as RPM
* Experience with software deployment mechanisms such as Ansible or Docker
* Understanding of DOCSIS / PacketCable and CWMP / TR-069
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent training, education and experience.
Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:
No Supervisory responsibilities with this position.
