Job Description: Master Electrician

Bloom Energy, a solid oxide fuel cell company, is looking for a Licensed Master Electrician to join its world class team. This individual should be a dynamic professional who is looking for a rewarding future in one of today's most exciting technologies.

Location: This position will be based in CT

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • The master electrician will work with Bloom's in house field application engineers (FAEs) and site superintendents to review customer switchgear for the feasibility of interconnection of Bloom energy servers to the customer facility
  • This position may sometimes act in a support function similar to a construction site superintendent or installations technologist. Reviewing sites for quality and completeness during and upon completion of construction
  • Possesses the ability to safely open live indoor or outdoor switchgear and take notes about available tap locations and bus design
  • Ability to act as a working, consulting or supervising electrician during the installation of Bloom energy servers

Skills Required:

  • Highly experienced with power levels typically in the range of 200kW to 2MW but sometimes higher
  • Knowledge of all applicable codes: NEC, OSHA, etc.
  • Experience in retrofit and new construction
  • Ability to positively identify wire colors by sight.
  • Troubleshooting: must be able to find the root cause of issues and think logically about solutions.
  • Customer Service: must be friendly when working on site.
  • Critical Thinking: when diagnosing problems, must think critically in the process of repairing the issue.
  • Expert ability to use an array of tools and diagnostic devices to review and install electrical parts
  • Expert ability to read and understand 2-D drawings
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Highly motivated and a self-starter, able to work with little supervision
  • Ability to work on weekends, at night and holidays

Education and Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience as an electrician. Utility or switchgear application environments highly desirable
  • Certification or license within the state where the position is located. California and various states in the Northeast (i.e. CT, NY, DE, MA, MD)
  • License must be current, including continuing education
  • Trained and qualified to use appropriate PPE when necessary (i.e. ARC flash trained and experienced)
  • High School graduate or GED, some college or technical schooling preferred
  • Valid driver license in good standing
  • Military MOS code in an electrical field desirable (i.e. Navy NEC CE-5635 Advanced Construction Electrician)
