The American Girl, New York, flagship retail store offers a premium, one-of-a-kind experience for girls and their families. Located on 5th Avenue in the heart of midtown Manhattan near Rockefeller Center, we feature the company's flagship line of historical and contemporary dolls, accessories, clothing, and books. In addition to shopping, girls and their families can top off their special day at American Girl Place with a fun and fancy meal in our Cafe, a visit to the Doll Hair Salon, or a trip to our Signature Studio to create customizable doll/girl clothing.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We currently have an opportunity for a full time Assistant Retail Manager.
The purpose of this position is as follows:
- Oversee the delivery of exceptional service to all guests
- Manage daily retail operations and meet revenue and expense goals
- Staff management and development
- Ensure proper staffing based on business needs; hire qualified applicants
- Oversee staff training and performance management
- Achieve revenue and expense goals
Experience, Education & Skills
You have:
- Analytical skills and are capable of synthesizing and prioritizing a large volume of information
- Team Builder ability to lead with a builder-mentality, ideating, recognizing and incorporating the best ideas from throughout your team
- Speed to pursue business objectives with a passion and sense of urgency that is inspiring
- Innovation and are extremely resilient to overcome obstacles by rethinking or reimaging the business and inspiring others to do the same
- Trust and are a person of character and conviction who can be trusted, without fail, to deliver on promises
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree is required; retail, hospitality or management degree preferred
- Must have 3-5 years’ experience in retail or similar environment
- Experience with leading a retail team
- Experience working with children is desirable
- Experienced user of Microsoft Office Suite, POS systems, and basic office equipment (copiers/fax)
- Ability to work as a team with store management and collaborate with corporate partners
