POSITION PURPOSE
  • The Senior Analyst of Data Analytics will be responsible for providing ah-hoc and project based data request support, and developing and maintaining analytics tools to support the Assurance and Advisory Management (AMP) team for project work across all functional areas (e.g., Merchandising, Store Operations, Finance and IT). This individual should possess strong data mining skills and be familiar with the BI tools and technology used by the AMP team to support project needs (Tableau / Tableau Server, SQL Server Management Studio, SQL Assistant, ACL, Teradata, DB2, BTEQ, SAP, and SharePoint). This role requires interaction with team members across all of the functional areas to understand their requirements and be able to develop solutions to support their data analysis needs. In addition, this individual will be responsible for delivering training to the department associates on the standard BI and analytics tools used in the department.

Responsibilities also to include:

  • Support AMP (Internal Audit) staff with ad-hoc data support required across functional areas such as Operations, Merchandising, Finance, Supply Chain and IT and provide solutions to drive efficiency and improved results
  • Develop and maintain data mining and reporting capabilities to support the department
  • Capture and develop queries and reports that can be leveraged by AMP staff to perform more efficient and accurate analytics
  • Assist with the development and delivery of data analytics training for the department
  • Derive meaning from data analytics and present in summarized format


MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Oversee the administration of financial policies.
  • Conducts special financial studies and coordinates with other departments in the preparation of statistical studies.
  • Performs internal and external economic research and analyzes issues related to specific financial metrics to ensure competitiveness
  • Compiles or prepares reports, graphs and charts of data developed.
  • Recommends changes in financial analysis methods or procedures.
  • Assists and supervises Financial Analysts in the daily preparation and conduct of their work.


NATURE AND SCOPE

  • This position typically reports to a Manager of Finance.
  • This position may supervise one or more Financial Analysts.
  • Typically requires highly developed interpersonal skills for dealing with sensitive or controversial situations.
  • Typically faces situations that are unstructured and require original approaches.
  • Typically considers new approaches within general policies and short-term goals when solving problems.
  • Typically, once given general assignments, determines priorities and defines what should be done and how to do it.


ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area.
  • Under constant pressure to continuously meet tight deadlines, demanding quotas and/or must regularly deal with difficult situations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be eighteen years of age
  • Must pass the Drug Test
  • Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable

EDUCATION REQUIRED -
  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work well with others
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Experience with the following tools and technologies is a plus: ACL (AX, Scripting, Job Scheduling), SQL, SAP, Access and Excel
  • Experience with the following tools and technologies is required: SQL Server (SSIS, SSRS), Teradata, Tableau / Tableau Server, DB2, BTEQ, SAP and SharePoint
  • Financial background and understanding of SAP and SAP tables
