Job Summary Responsible for daily operations and supervision of the 21 room Inn at the Michigan League including but not limited to operational excellence, and all aspects of hospitality management such as customer service, room reservations and room blocks, sales, front desk operations, guest billing, cash and credit card transactions, and guest check in and check out process. The position is responsible to develop the budget for the hotel operation as well as overseeing, analyzing and monitoring expenditures on an ongoing basis.

Responsibilities* Guest Services Responsibilities - 60%

Develop and maintain operational excellence in all aspects of hospitality management including guest service, room reservations and room blocks, safety and security. Provide quality customer service to hotel guests by establishing guest-centered standards; ensure customer satisfaction, stay current on knowledge of Michigan League, University campus, and Ann Arbor area, and follow up on guest inquiries or concerns. Closely collaborate with members of the Michigan League/University Unions staff, University Unions Maintenance, Operations, Auxiliary Marketing, Conference and Events, Parking Services, and the students, faculty, staff, tenants and guests of the Michigan League to assure the highest quality of hotel hospitality service. Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate approximately 10 student staff members. Develop clear standards and expectations and implement recognition that results in a highly motivated, knowledgeable and guest-oriented staff. Ensure the guest rooms are clean, operational and properly maintained by coordinating with custodial services and maintenance service. Develop and implement policies and procedures for the daily operation such as reservation process, check in/out process, financial transactions, room block, cash deposits, etc. Financial -- 20%

Develop the annual budget for all areas of responsibility, analyzing and monitoring expenditures on an ongoing basis, ensure cost containment while seeking to grow revenue. Actively promote and sell the Inn at the Michigan League, seeking new business, through solicitations, visiting with potential and existing University and external clients, and working with Auxiliary Marketing to develop high quality marketing materials. Work in strong coordination with Conferences and Events to develop promotional packages, and other sales opportunities for social and conference clientele. Annual revenue growth expected. Responsible for purchasing supplies and furnishings necessary for the operation of the hotel. Analyze staff payroll and report it on a timely and accurate basis. Responsible for properly administering policies and procedures for cash handling, credit cards, accounts payable, payroll and all other financial transactions to ensure it meets all University guidelines and expectations. Administrative -- 20%

Be an active participant on the University Unions and the Michigan League teams. Provide and maintain hotel amenities for hotel guests. Coordinate Maintenance work requests, coordinate repairs and assist with preventative maintenance scheduling for the hotel operations. Ensure staff has understanding of safety/security systems and emergency preparedness procedures including serve on building incident response team for the facility. Prepare GAP analysis documents, revenue, occupancy and operational reports. Oversee hotel software. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications* Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Hotel Administration, Business Administration or equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of two years supervisory experience in guest services, front desk, or related professional area. Working knowledge of hotel industry. Proficient knowledge of cash handling and credit card processing procedures. Experience with fiscal management, personnel management, risk management and the supervision of a staff operating on a seven day, twenty four hour basis. Proficient with Microsoft Windows based software including Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience with hotel reservation software.

Desired Qualifications* Proficient knowledge of hotel management software systems. Previous sales experience.

Additional Information The Michigan League is one of four facilities managed by University Unions. This position reports to the Director of the Michigan League/University Unions Associate Director and provides management for daily operations of Inn at the Michigan League. The Michigan League is a 130,000 square foot building in the heart of the University of Michigan campus that opened in 1929 and today hosts approximately 5,000 events. The Michigan League includes a twenty-one room hotel, and is a popular location for conferences, weddings, and special events.

The minimum salary for this position is $42,000.00.
