The Individual Health Underwriting department at Mutual of Omaha has a immediate openings for energetic and driven Underwriting Support Assistants.  This position will support  producers and underwriting staff on new business applications by gathering, processing, and entering information needed by underwriting staff to determine coverage and rating offers; responsible for policy issue, delivery and post issue requirements.

 

Potential candidates should consider the following information when applying for this position: 

  • It is a Temporary/Seasonal position with two start dates: August 8th and August 15th
  • This project will approximately end sometime in the first quarter of 2017
  • Attendance is mandatory for training the first week
  • Required to work an 8 hour shift between the hours of 7:00am - 6:00pm, both during and after training
  • This position is in a fast paced, high volume environment with production goals
  • There are benefits associated with the position to include health insurance, paid holidays, paid overtime, accrued vacation, and participation in 401K with a match
  • Starting pay is $15.25 per hour

Essential Job Functions:

  • Under direct supervision, analyzes data related to suitability for all Medicare Supplemental cases, in order to mitigate financial risk to the company.
  • Under direct supervision, communicates with brokers, agencies, and/or other sources concerning outstanding requirements and procedures.
  • Analyze and verify data and statements for internal replacements and new business, determine if case is suitable, correspond with appropriate field personnel regarding the activities and potential options available, and process case. Review industry publications and stays abreast of Federal, State and business regulations governing Medicare Supplemental products. 
  • Meets or exceeds time service, quality and customer service expectations as defined by management; ensures timely responses to internal and external customers submitted via phone, email and workflow systems.
  • Communicates effectively with internal and external customers; verbal and written communication is clear, concise and professional; uses appropriate grammar and spelling in written correspondence.
  • Uses various databases to document reporting requirements and system generated reports. 
  • Accesses various other systems to provide information required by underwriting and maintains and retrieves underwriting files.
  • This position requires extensive or prolonged typing/keyboarding/computer and phone work.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience working in customer service
  • Experience with word-processing and email
  • Strong written and verbal communication; use sound judgment
  • Able to create and build relationships with customers
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask effectively, work under pressure, meet deadline requirements and be flexible to meet changing customer needs
  • Demonstrates learning agility in key job functions, takes end to end ownership of assigned work load
