The Ski and Snowboard School Location Manager is responsible for creating a welcoming first and last impression. This individual will be responsible for the overall quality of the guest and employee experience for their assigned base location. Location Managers are responsible for ensuring instructors are providing a safe and exciting experience for guests who are learning to ski or board. This is achieved through the focus on problem solving, quality control, guest relations, sales generation, staff performance development, financial responsibility, communication, teamwork, administrative duties and self-development. 

 

This is a full-time, seasonal (7-month) role with a start date of approximately October 1, 2016.

 

This individual will be responsible for managing program issues relating to scheduling, instructor pay, guest complaints, and system efficiency.  He or she will manage growth and expense of programs, and will oversee daily instructor line-up.  This position will work with the Director, other Ski and Snowboard School Managers, Supervisors and administrative personnel to ensure all payroll, workers compensation, incident reports, staffing levels, safety procedures, disciplinary procedures, hiring and separating procedures and all other administrative functions are managed efficiently and timely. 

 

Additional responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Coach and counsel supervisors/coordinators, instructors and support staff at their assigned location, complete performance appraisals and oversee maintenance of base areas and on hill facilities.
  • Schedule and manage instructor resources to ensure optimum utilization and effectiveness from both the guest and employee perspectives. Manage staffing to daily revenue and labor model.
  • Work with the Director and Customer Service Manager to support and achieve quality targets for the success of the overall Ski and Snowboard School.
  • Implements and holds staff accountable to both Ski and Snowboard School & company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure supervisory/coordinator staff is effectively controlling instructor and support staff in order to ensure the highest quality of guest service is provided.
  • Resolve guest complaints by utilizing guest service guidelines.  Accommodate special requests when appropriate.
  • Uphold safety standards within the department and resort.
  • Ensure instructors are knowledgeable about our product lines, company policies and procedures, and work schedules.
  • Review mutual seasonal goals and performance objectives with each instructor and provide feedback. Mediate conflicts with Instructors.
  • Communicate with other departments to create an environment of support and trust that will benefit staff and guests.
  • Responsible for overseeing and coordinating the maintenance of day to day supplies and program tools for inside and outside set up.

Requirements:

  • College degree - Preferred
  • PSIA/AASI Level 2 certification or equivalent
  • Children Specialist 1 certification or equivalent - Preferred
  • Minimum of five years of experience as an Ski & Snowboard School Instructor
  • Minimum of three years of supervisory experience
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a guest service function
  • RPOS experience - Preferred
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Must be able to work in inclement weather in a winter environment
  • Must have excellent guest service and communication skills
  • Must work well in a team.
  • Able to communicate effectively (verbal and written) in English
  • Must be able to work flexible schedule including weekends, nights, weekdays, evenings, & holidays
