This position is responsible for managing the merchandising functions, Stockroom, Guest Service, various human resource functions, and directly supervising Department Leaders and Specialists for an individual store, in addition to assisting in overseeing all full-time and part-time associates in order to achieve or exceed planned sales and profits. In the absence of the Store Manager, the Co-Store Manager, has the responsibility for the overall operation of the store. A Co-Store Manager must be committed to relocation for any possible rotational assignments and willing to relocate for future career opportunities.

Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Promotes the Gordmans guest experience making sure that every guest receives prompt and friendly service through personal example and by providing direction as needed to associates to ensure they are friendly and responsive to guest needs. Ensures that all associates understand expectations of our guest standards and the Guest Loyalty programs and initiatives.
2. Assist the Store Manager in achieving or exceeding planned sales and profits by effectively merchandising the store, exceeding guest service level expectations, managing human resources, and controlling expenses.
3. Ensures that the store is properly staffed by maintaining high standards in the recruitment and selection of associates thru active interviewing and evaluation of experience to confirm accurate compensation by position. Maintain a quality work environment that encourages the retention and development of talented associates.
4. Train, schedule and supervise full-time and part-time associates. This includes prioritizing and delegating daily work assignments, giving timely feedback to all associates in these areas regarding performance and conduct.
5. Encourages the growth and personal development of direct reports through effective training, prioritization, mentoring, communication, delegation, and personal example in order to promote talent within the organization.
6. Write performance appraisals for the individual development of associates. Be prepared to provide input to Store Manager for recommending or setting increase amounts associated with the merit Performance Appraisal.
7. Manages associate relations concerns and delivers corrective action steps as necessary. Handles associate grievances or complaints and necessary discipline or performance improvement with the available support of the Store Manager and Human Resources.
8. Participates in developmental programs designed to increase the managerial knowledge base of themselves, their Department Leaders and their Specialists.
9. Oversee the computer-based time clock system for payroll purposes.
10. Monitors, records and controls store expenses using company provided tools while operating within earned percent sales goals.
11. Maintains confidentiality of store financial, sales and company information at all times.
12. Follows company procedures to optimize productivity and achieve established payroll objectives. Monitors schedule compliance for legal and regulatory standards for items such as ACA and minor work rules.
13. Manages the annual physical inventory process.
14. Maintains store compliance with all company policies and procedures, and all applicable federal, state, and local statutes and regulations.
15. Provides safety and security in the work environment. Committed to communicating and upholding the incident handling procedures for associate and guest incidents. Ensures that the store and its furniture, fixtures, and equipment are clean, properly maintained, and pose no safety hazards and contacts the appropriate people/company when repairs are necessary.
16. Performs other related duties and special projects as may be assigned from time to time by upper management.
17. Must be at work on a regular and predictable basis or as scheduled. All Management staff and Leaders are required to close a minimum of one evening shift per week. They are also required to work one shift per weekend OR both days every other weekend (this is determined by the Store Manager).
18. Open Availability -- When business needs dictate it, Management and Leads must be flexible in terms of working hours and/or work schedule in order to manage the organization’s workflow (this includes nights and weekends).
19. Openness to Relocation – Committed to relocation for possible rotational assignments and willing to relocate for future career opportunities, inclusive of lateral moves and promotional opportunities (must sign a relocation commitment form).

Education and Qualifications
1. Ability to sufficiently understand the English language in order to communicate with individuals at all levels in the company and with various business contacts outside of the company in an articulate, professional manner.
2. Knowledge of Company services, products, policies and procedures.
3. Knowledge of off-price retail merchandising concepts and business management principles.
4. Demonstrates the ability and desire to assists in motivating and leading others towards the accomplishment of store and company goals.
5. Knowledge of POS system operation and troubleshooting techniques.
6. Knowledge of Kronos time and attendance system.
7. Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment background screen.
8. Ability to resolve guest issues in a professional, diplomatic manner.
9. Ability to conduct the interview; also select, hire, train and develop talented individuals.
10. Ability to teach and train associates on the sales floor and on occasion, physically work with them.
11. Knowledge of management principles and the ability to apply those principles to the management of exempt and associate populations. These principles refer to the “soft skills” that great managers utilize to manage people. Included but not limited to motivation, planning, organizing, delegating, controlling, communicating and resolving conflict.
12. Associate’s Degree preferred or 1-2 years of retail leadership experience.
13. Minimum of 5 years retail or guest services experience required.
