Job Purpose:

To review, compile and issue specifications and bid costs in line with customer RFQ (Request for Quote) requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • To communicate with customers, suppliers, agents and sales personnel to obtain all  necessary information required compile specifications that satisfy firefighting equipment and related material requirements that fit within National Foam's scope of supply.
  • Audit and evaluate customer issued plans and specifications in order to quote appropriate products and related non-material requirements that comply with all relevant codes and specifications.
  • Organize, track and report workload status to Engineering Manager on weekly basis or as necessary to facilitate the most efficient line of communication between engineering, sales and customer.
  • Audit assigned RFQ's for content and advise on bid viability from both production capability and general supply ability points of view.
  • Interface with customer service personnel and technical services to obtain commercial details required for quotation completion.
  • To rapidly and accurately compile Commercial and Technical Bid Data Packages as necessary for submission to customers. Bids will include at a minimum the following: specifications, terms & conditions, drawings and Quotation.
  • Enter job specific data into departmental order tracking software as required by current departmental procedures.
  • Audit received purchase orders for compliance to issued quotes. Communicate all discrepancies to customer service for correction prior to order acceptance.
  • Organize sales engineering file to include copies of all relevant information required to purchase material, design equipment and finalize engineering production release prior to releasing file to production engineering for processing .
  • Engineer, specify and advance order all long lead items as well as set up skeleton bills as required to ensure that materials are purchased prior to final design so that long lead equipment is received well in advance of scheduled build dates.
  • Release received purchase orders to production engineering for processing.
  • Release received purchase orders to customer service for sales order compilation advising as necessary to ensure correct entry and to eliminate incorrect information being issued to customer via sales order acknowledgement.
  • To set the pace, lead by example, and demonstrate exceptional independent, self-starting work ethics.
  • Any other duties of a business nature which are identified and communicated by supervisor.

On the basis this role is a graduate position, the company is prepared to train and invest in the right individual to impart capability in this field.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum of two years in the workload  ideally within an Engineering company
  • General knowledge of manufacturing processes and capabilities.
  • Experienced solid modeling CAD skills
  • Good problem solving skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work well with other departments as required.
