We have a full-time/part-time opening for a Production Assistant on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts. 

 

Requirements

POSITION SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Keep assigned presses supplied with formed boxes (the Supervisor will determine the average number of boxes on the floor).
  • Seal the box using the proper tape length, centering tape on the bottom of the box in the middle of the seam, allowing sufficient overlap on the side of the box and making sure the tape is sticking to the box.
  • Maintain tape machines with proper water level, proper temperature, and supplied with tape.
  • During set-ups or production changes, clear materials no longer necessary for production and return to their proper location.
  • Notify the forklift driver when boxes or other materials are needed in the production room to avoid any interruption in production (at least one hour in advance).
  • Stack full boxes on their proper pallets in good condition in a neat manner, centering the product both front to back and side to side, eliminating box overhang, when possible. All boxes are to be tightly fitted with no gaps. Labels are to be facing out. Boxes are to be removed on a timely basis to keep packers area clear of congestion.
  • Take completed baskets and bulk packs to the end of the production room for removal to the warehouse using the hand jack.
  • Correct any load that has been removed from production room and returned due to improper stacking.
  • If a pallet is not in good condition, have it removed immediately from the production room. (If this is not possible, due to any shortages, notify the Supervisor immediately.).
  • Fill separator bins in the box room and drive-in rack, when necessary (if applicable).
  • Produces high quality products safely and hygienically as per company GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) standards

BALER RESPONSIBILITIES (Daily rotation between Production Assistants)

  • Responsible for operation of baler — prevent and correct any jams
  • Collect scrap pans from production floor and take to baler area
  • Remove aluminum bricks from baler conveyor/slide and palletize neatly on pallet
  • Band full pallets of aluminum scrap
  • Sweep ?oor scrap into collection blower mouth at end of shift

HOUSEKEEPING ITEMS

  • Maintain a neat, uncluttered production area.
  • Keep the area around the bales of boxes clean and free of strapping and excess cardboard wrappings.
  • Discard all nylon banding from bundles.
  • Collect scrap cardboard during the shift and take to the cardboard baler or pallet in Press Room.
  • Keep the production room floor uncluttered so packers and operators can move freely around presses.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly area in the carton storage areas.
  • Discard to the dumpsters any used cores from the rolls of metal.
  • Assist in general clean up.

SAFETY

  • Must follow all Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) Hazard Assessment requirements
  • Must follow all Environmental Health and Safety procedural requirements

QUALIFICATIONS Basic math, reading, and writing skills

WORK ENVIRONMENT Must be able to tolerate loud noise
