Job Description & Qualifications:

Job Summary

Lead and develop sourcing strategy for identifying, qualifying, and selecting vendors that provide products for resale. Develop negotiation strategies, manage relationships, maximize value, ensure purchasing needs are met and that projects progress as scheduled.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

  • Develops and leads strategic sourcing initiatives.
  • Develops strategies for identifying, selecting, qualifying, and maintaining relationships with vendors.
  • Leverages economies of scale to best meet the purchasing needs of the company in terms of cost, quality, and vendor ability.
  • Participates in the development of capacity planning strategies and manages the function.
  • Oversees production of associates in terms of pricing and quality of negotiated purchases and ensures that purchasing needs throughout the business are met.
  • Coordinates vendor negotiations with vendors. Negotiates price changes with major vendors.
  • Defines policies and procedures for sourcing.

Nature and Scope

  • Solutions require analysis and investigation.
  • Achieves planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, business principles and practical experience. May recommend/make decisions regarding new programs/initiatives that have significant impact to the business and carry consequences in unsuccessful endeavors.
  • Manages a larger team or multiple small teams through direction of subordinate management and/or supervisory staff.

Work Environment

  • Frequent periods are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about; occasionally there may be a need to stoop or lift light objects (typically less than 8 pounds).
  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be eighteen years of age
  • Must pass the Drug Test
  • Must pass the Background Check
  • Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable

Education and Experience

  • Typically requires BS/BA in related discipline. Generally 7+ years experience in related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.
