Position Summary:

Serve as the subject matter expert in a designated area of the Regional Accounting Service Center. Provide leadership support to the Director of Finance and the Assistant Controllers by leading special projects, and assist with day to day operations in department. Essential Job Functions:

• Maintain all balance sheet accounts: activation, assignment, descriptions, etc.
• Maintain all profit and loss accounts: activation, impact on allocations, descriptions
• Maintain master file of allocation events and assist as needed in creating, modifying events
• Serve as liaison for Kroger and Price Waterhouse Cooper audit teams, making sure discussions on issues include department manager and Area Manager as well as clerk involved
• Verify Sarbanes Oxley narratives are updated and spreadsheet reviews are updated
• Account flux - balance sheet for certain departments and profit and loss for all departments
• Account analysis for problem/high profile areas. Utilize graphing/trending
• Audit and/or coordinate with managers on audits of all accounts timely
• Follow-up/resolve out of balance accounts, reconciling items, un-reconciled accounts, aging of unbilled accounts; communicate finding to area managers
• Conduct training on account balancing for all levels and conduct accounting orientation for new hires
• Assist in establishing accounting process or reconciliation for new programs or new ledger accounts
• Assist assistant controller with projects and inquiries
• Fill in as needed for managers or key leadership positions within departments during a lengthy absence

Minimum Position/Education Qualifications:

• Minimum of five years Kroger Accounting experience
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Business Objects
• Proven analytical skills
• Exceptional leadership and management skills and ability to motivate, develop, and inspire a team while creating an empowered organization
• Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with others; establish/maintain good working relationships
• Ability to take prompt action to accomplish objectives; taking action to achieve goals beyond what is required; being proactive and following up to ensure completion
• Ability to establish a course of action for self and others to ensure that work is completed efficiently and in line with the department's objectives
