# Description The Assistant Buyer reports to the Buyer and assists the buying unit in the execution of the merchandising strategy & initiatives in the assigned categories. * * *Core Strategy* · Assist buyer in executing online and store merchandising strategy by managing tasks and processes needed to run their business. · Develop an omni-channel understanding of TRU customer’s needs, as well as the market and our competitors. · Proactively share timely updates and communicate information clearly, concisely and professionally · Independently build vendor relationships through attendance in vendor meetings, problem solving, follow up and special projects. · Partner with several cross-functional teams to flawlessly execute the buyer’s business strategies. (RTVs, Price change, quality assurance, visual, store ops, and logistics) *Merchandising* · Attend vendor meetings and trade shows as necessary, helping to prepare reports pre-line review. · Assist buyer in developing and maintaining planograms in Concept Lab for resets & refreshes and feature shops, updating as necessary. This includes ordering, collecting and maintaining samples, as well as assisting with price and visual signage. · Coordinate with visual and store planning teams to execute merchant vision of in-store presentation. This includes assisting with the development of in-store signage, displays, and fixtures and planogram review. · Support the development of training materials for field employees, including product knowledge and vendor in store training. · Partner & coordinate with digital site merchant team on merchant vision including presell, and videos. · Manage new vendor setup process. *Financial* · Ensure accurate and timely communication of sales reports related to weekly item sales, advertising performance, vendor profitability, and Dotcom. · Assist in developing and analyzing ad-hoc reporting as necessary. · Assist Associate Buyer with vendor profitability reporting. · Prepare, submit and organize records of credit allowances on a timely basis. · Maintain credit allowance tracker with projections and actuals for advertised events, unadvertised events, marketing, master deals, & visuals · Run redemptions after deals have ended promptly, write CA for vendor covered deals, & follow up on approval process *Marketing and Promotions* · Assist buyer in developing print and digital advertising strategy. · Review advertising submission schedule and ensure timely submission of deals, including financial projections, creative templates and deal lists. · Coordinate with marketing creative team to execute merchant vision of advertising materials. This includes leading marketing turn-in meetings, organizing copy and samples for photography, and proofing all advertising. · Maintain and organize all advertising proofs, including competitive ads. · Execute timely and accurate submission of deal lists for store and online promotions. · Assist in entering price changes and temporary price reductions in-store and online in a timely manner and proof in-store signs and online execution. · Track financial projections and actualized sales results on advertised deals. · Coordinate with marketing on in store events and other non-promotional events (examples: Registry Planner Insert, Registry Guide, and LMS tools) · Submit for feature space rotations & endcaps item selection, projections, & proof POGs. · Monitor and maintain street date information were applicable. # Qualifications · 0-3 years related work experience · Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent job experience · Basic skills/knowledge preferred in negotiation, inventory planning and Retail Math · Intermediate skills required in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel · Preferred but not required skills with Revionics, Aptaris, Sharepoint, Media Compass, and R Reports / Report Builder · Domestic travel may be required on a seasonal basis *Core Competencies Required* · Adaptability: Ability to detect problems or opportunities, gathers all relevant information, identifies underlying issues or problems, organizes information, recognizes trends, and identifies cause-effect relationships. · Initiative: Proactive, generates ideas for improvement, solves problems without being asked, takes advantage of opportunities for self-improvement, does more than required. · Follow Up: Establishes follow-up dates, contacts others to review progress, confirms that actions have been taken, checks progress on assignments, and obtains feedback on results. · Teamwork/Collaboration: Builds relationships with team, and those outside of formal line of authority to accomplish organizational goals. **Job Function:** Merchandising **Primary Location:** USA-NJ-Wayne **Schedule:** Full-time **Organization:** Headquarters **Job Type:** Standard **Education Level:** Bachelor's Degree **Brand:** Toys 'R' US **Req ID:** 71146
