Overview
Serves as a resident advocate. Wash dishes, pots and pans, some food preparation, work the food serving line, deliver trays to Dining Room or Nursing Units, clean floors, walls, etc., take out the trash and all general clean up. Performs related duties as assigned.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities
Places food and beverages on resident trays. Also places silverware, glassware and dishes on trays.
Scrapes dirty dishes, cleans mobile food carts, cabinets, coffee pots, other large items in the kitchen, floors, walls, ceiling tiles. Places disposable items, such as napkins, into appropriate receptacles and empties trash.
Operates dishwashers as assigned.
Assists in food preparation, i.e. pouring liquids, and dipping salads and desserts.
Places appropriate food items on trays according to specific resident request of food choices (diet cards).
Insures constant cleanliness of kitchen and specific assigned work areas.
Attends facility and departmental in-services.
Reports to the scene of each fire and fire drill.
Restocks/maintains dietary supplies/food inventory.
Observes universal precautions consistently.
Wears proper personal protective equipment when appropriate.
Wears clothing and Health System badge consistent with dress code, and attends to personal hygiene to maintain a clean, well-groomed appearance.
Meets Health System attendance standards.
Performs additional duties as directed.
Qualifications:
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Food service experience in a nursing home or hospital, dishwashing experience.
Other: Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Ability to read and write. Working Conditions, Mental and Physical Requirements: Walking, Lifting, Pushing, Pulling, Climbing, Step Ladder Equipment Used: Dish Machine, Pot Machine, Slicers, Mixer, Toaster
Preferred Other: Dietary experience and knowledge of nutrition preferred.
