About this job

Working at ESPN is unlike anything else. That's because we're always finding new ways to interact with fans -- however and wherever they connect with sports. When you have the latest technology, game-changing ideas and world-class talent on your team, every day is extraordinary.

BottomLine is part of ESPN's Stats & Information Group, and is a constant resource and companion for fans across multiple networks and platforms. Associate Editors will assist with BottomLine production on ESPN's college networks and shows, specifically SEC Network and Longhorn Network, to provide accurate news and other editorial content and context in a live news-and-information production environment.

A critical element to this role is to produce BottomLine content that is factually and statistically accurate. Other responsibilities include basic data-entry, running score alerts, news writing, and affiliated administrative tasks.

Shifts are almost exclusively at night on weekdays, and availability on weekends and holidays is required. The position will average no more than 28 hours per week; the number of hours scheduled varies based on production needs.

Must be a creative self-starter capable of buying-in to a vision and understanding that leadership is not a position-based trait. A comprehensive and inclusive communication style that reaches across groups and job levels is essential. Strong news/content judgment. Knowledge of ESPN policies and procedures Knowledge of sports research methods, as well as how to locate (and when to trust) relevant editorial Web resources. Significant, broad-based sports knowledge on a variety of sports Strong grammar and writing skills Night, weekend and holiday work required High School Diploma or Equivalent Bachelor's Degree Interact on deadline with content decision makers within and outside of the BottomLine (e.g. News Editors; show producers) to ensure the BottomLines are consistent with all editorial directions and treatments. Become proficient in the use of the BottomLine computer programs and regularly conceive ideas about how best to utilize the systems to deliver content to viewers. Innovation is at the heart of BottomLine's mission, so the ideal candidate is always striving to advance and improve BottomLine processes to better serve viewers and enhance time-spent viewing. Foster and actively engage in a team-first environment by communicating openly and honestly, and providing timely, balanced feedback to teammates. Understand, implement and contribute to all BottomLine policies and procedures to ensure consistent content output. Recommend ideas or courses of action that maximize efficiency and productivity in the group while furthering ESPN priorities
