Assistant Mainframe Systems Programmer - z/OS
Position Description\:
Responsible for assisting with the installation and maintenance of the IBM z/OS operating system software, including CICS/Transaction Server.
Job Responsibilities
-
Applies maintenance to systems using SMP/E, installs new system releases and performs I/O gens.

Analyzes system dumps, monitoring performance data and working with vendors to correct system errors.

Assists with installing and maintaining third party products from vendors such as, CA, Compuware, etc.
-
Manages all levels of access and security for users, applications, and processes.
-
Assists with quality control testing of all changes to the system.
-
Provides assistance to system operators, application programmers, database administrators, and other personnel as required.
-
Ensures compliance with operational and security audits as conducted by 3rd party audit firms.
-
Responsibilities also include the management of the mainframe's storage configurations, including the determination of backup requirements, placement of files on DASD, and optimizing the utilization of storage devices (DASD and Tape).

Qualifications\:
-
Knowledge of IBM hardware including Processors, Tape Systems, and DASD.

Ability to analyze system performance information and alter system parameter to alleviate performance issues.
-
Must possess the ability to write clear and concise technical documentation.
-
Must be available for on-call support including nights and weekends.
-
Experience with z/OS; SMP/E; I/O gens; CICS/Transaction Server; storage devices; access and security; quality control; compliance.

Must be currently eligible to work in the US for any employer without sponsorship.

Must consent to and successfully clear all required pre-employment screenings (background and substance abuse).
Education\:
-
A bachelor's degree in an IT technical area or equivalent work experience.
NOTE\: This position must be located on-site in New Orleans, Louisiana, and is NOT eligible for relocation expenses/reimbursements.
