Position\: .Net Architect
 
Location\: Prefer candidate currently lives within a daily commutable distance to the Naperville, IL location or willing to self-relocate to same. Outside possibility we may consider remote.
 
Position Overview\:
 
The .Net Architect is the functional technical leader for all development within the sphere of their responsibility. The .Net Architect works closely with other architects and the Development Manager to unify design, define best practices, and balance resources across teams.  The Architect will continuously interface with support, quality assurance, configuration, project management and business analyst staff during all phases of the development process.  Applications may be windows, web, service, or console based applications.  The Architect must be experienced with development on all levels of the applications (data layer, business layer and UI). 
 
Duties and Essential Job Functions\:
 
- Actively lead and mentor a team of 3 to 8 software developers across multiple simultaneous projects.
- Review all system requirements for understanding, accuracy and completeness.  Provide feedback to Business Analysts (BA), Configuration, Business Intelligence (BI) and Quality Assurance (QA) teams as necessary.
- Translate function requirements into technical specifications and design.
- Design customized software solutions using web, windows and service based platforms using mainly Microsoft technologies, including but not limited to\:
C#/.Net
Visual Studio
Microsoft SQL Server
Team Foundation Server
- Create technical design documentation and diagrams.
- Estimate all development efforts and assign development resources.  Receive and communicate commitment of all development tasks from their development team.
- Perform capacity planning given the currently available development resources.
- Work closely with support, BA, QA and PM teams to address defects, scope changes, and emergency requests.
- Perform technical reviews of all code developed for systems for which they have responsibility.
- Understand and actively use AGILE and SCRUM project management methodologies.
- Hold daily cross functional teams and provides updates on the following to BAs and PMs\:
Progress of tasks
Estimation of remaining work
Current roadblocks/challenges
Review upcoming work
Team Updates
- Provide feedback to the Development Manager routinely on status of team, development efforts, problems/risks, resource requirements and individual developer performance.
- Actively look for ways to improve the over design of systems.
- Actively look for opportunities to utilize new technologies and improve the software development life cycle.
- Contribute to defining development best practices and coding standards.
- Work a consistent 8 hour work schedule between the hours of 7am and 6pm.
 
Preferred Qualifications\:
 
- 10+ years of experience working with C#/.Net
- 8+ years of experience designing databases, write stored procedures, functions, triggers and views as well as adhoc queries in SQL Server 2005/08/12/14
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or MIS (other degrees coupled with appropriate experience considered)
- Experience using Team Foundation Server (TFS) or similar system for source code control.
- Experience with Visual Studio
- Experience designing and developing applications at an enterprise level within a team environment.
- Experience leading or managing teams of software developers
- Experience with writing unit tests
- Experience implementing various design patterns such as MVC, Façade, Abstract Factory, or Singleton.
- Experience with Javascript, JQuery, Angular, Bootstrap, Knockout preferred
- Experience with continuous build and deployment preferred
