About this job

Behind the Bash Catering & Events is seeking a  highly skilled, hardworking and creative  Sous Chef to supervise  event production.  This is a hands-on position responsible for the coordination and execution of all event-related menu items for on-time packing and delivery to venues around Houston.

In this position you will be expected to:

·         Prepare food items according to specified  event menu, recipes,and total guest count and follow a strict event timeline.

·         Participate in the preparation and service of food  tastings for Clients prior to their events.

·         Order necessary food items from vendors; create food preparation lists; assign kitchen staff to specific menu items; and supervise work to ensure quantity, quality, consistency, and proper timing of food preparation.

·         Communicate and coordinate with Event Staff to ensure knowledge of menu, proper loading and delivery of all food items to event location, and facilitate the proper finishing of menu items at the event.

·         Answer questions from prep and waitstaff and train according to Behind the Bash standards

·         Research and create new menu items and recipes.

We are looking for someone with culinary skills and at least 2 years’ experience as a sous chef...  experience  in a high-volume catering environment is preferred but not necessary.

What is necessary is:

·         Working weekends

·         Knowledge of health and safety requirements pertaining to food preparation

·         An understanding of proper inventory control, management and costing practices

·         Effective leadership &  supervisory skills and strong organizational ability

·         Effective  communication skills along with a sense of humor!

·         The ability to work within a team environment

Monday - closed

Tuesday - closed

Wednesday - 9-5

Thursday 9-5

Friday 2-10

Saturday ( varies ) 12-9

Sundays ( varies ) 12-9

This is a salaried, full-time position. OUR KITCHEN IS LOCATED IN RICHMOND, TX.   Please do not apply if it is 'too far' for you to drive 5 days/week.
