The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for directing the fiscal accounting functions of the dealer group, which operates 9 locations with 17 brands.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Coordinates and oversees all fiscal accounting activities and functions.
  • Oversees the work of the Accounting Department.
  • Provides oversight for the proper and timely preparation of journal entries, ledgers, and financial statements.
  • Participates in corporate business planning. Leads Accounting departmental business planning.
  • Responsible for administration of company-wide expense reporting.
  • Monitors bank accounts and balances bank statements.
  • Oversees the preparation of tax forms and payments.
  • Interacts with state insurance regulators regarding various financial filings, audits and other issues.
  • Coordinates with outside auditors regarding periodic audits.
  • Oversees preparation of quarterly and year-end filings.
  • Direct supervision of  Accounting Department leadership team, which includes department budgeting, salary administration monitoring performance and provides guidance and feedback.
  • Supports supervision of accounting department staff.
  • Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
  • Works collaboratively as a member of the executive management team.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong knowledge of Statutory Accounting Principles.
  • Excellent organizational skills. Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel and email systems.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Good interpersonal skills. Ability to build rapport, provide motivation, resolve conflicts, build teamwork and coach employees to attain company, department and team objectives.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting from a four-year college or university, MBA preferred.
  • Experience with Automotive Accounting.

SUPERVISORY OR MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directly supervises Accounting Department management staff. Responsible for all Accounting Department activities.
