ABOUT THE JOB Contribute to a positive experience for our customers/co-workers by preparing and serving food according to the IKEA Food Concept to strengthen IKEA’s position as the best home furnishing store.

YOUR ASSIGNMENT Your main tasks will include:
  • Plan, prepare and maintain cold prep menu items in accordance with IKEA recipes and place in cooling stations or in serving line cases.
  • Prepare menu items following IKEA’s food concept according to specifications using approved ingredients and in accordance with health standards.
  • Serve customers on the food line and in the dining room.
  • May perform light baking and assist in preparation of ingredients to be stored for next day use.
  • Follow all health regulations for proper food handling and hygiene in preparation of food and in use of materials, utensils and equipment.
  • Communicate to manager and/or complete ordering and inventory needs . Inform manager of any safety hazards or equipment hazards
  • Clean and maintain equipment, materials and utensils according to equipment cleaning standards set
  • Promote a safe working environment for fellow co-workers, customer and visitors by reporting any safety hazards, concerns or ideas for improvement.
  • Follow food handling health, safety and sanitation regulations and guidelines
YOUR PROFILE Your knowledge, skills and experience include 1-3 years of experience in the following area:
  • Cold prep food handling experience in a full service restaurant or institutional food service establishment
  • Good customer service, and verbal communication skills
  • High or equivalent
  • Knowledge and interest in Home Furnishings
  • Effective verbal and written skills in the English language
  • Contribute to an environment where the IKEA culture is a strong and living reality that embraces the diversity of co-workers and customers.
  • Ability to work independently and in groups
  • Basic computer skills
  • Prefer fast-paced, retail work environment
  • Basic math skills
Additional Information. Work Location: Fast-paced, deadline driven, high volume retail store. Physical/Mental Demands (Essential Functions): Having the ability to access and observe all areas of the store; to handle multiple and changing priorities/deadlines and moderate stress; to communicate with customers and co-workers and manage conflict; to lift and move 50 lbs.; to use the PC for extended periods during the shift; to wear PPE (personal protective equipment); and to use small power tools and related equipment. Physical/Mental Demands (Non Essential Functions): Bending, stretching, reaching, climbing, lifting and wearing required IKEA uniform.
