Nationwide Hotel and Conference Center located in Lewis Center,Ohio searching for an experienced Sous Chef to work in our culinary team on property. This individual will  assist with supervising and coordinating food production operations and activities throughout Nationwide Hotel and Conference Center, while achieving budgeted food and labor cost margins. In addition, this candidate will provide strong leadership and foster the development of the culinary and utility staffs along with sparking a creative environment that inspires our team to continuously improve daily in both their skills, and our culinary offerings for our guests.

 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

 

  • Prepares food in accordance with Nationwide Hotel and Conference Center recipes, established portion and presentation.
  • Adheres to state and local health and safety regulations.
  • Works with Executive Chef to Develop Break, Dining Room, Pub, Room Service, and Event Menus.
  • Organizes and posts approved daily production and prep list for restaurant and banquets.
  • Ensures that the AM, PM and Buffet carts are clean, sanitary and that all products are stored properly.
  • Sets up, maintains, breaks down and cleans any dirty work stations.
  • Notifies Chefs in advance of expected shortages.
  • Maintains security and safety in all areas of the kitchens and back-of-house areas.
  • Maintains neat professional appearance and observes personal cleanliness rules at all times.
  • Covers, dates and properly stores all leftover products that are re-usable.
  • Must convey information and ideas clearly; maintain composure and objectivity under pressure. Also effectively anticipate, identify, prevent, and solve problems in the workplace.
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding and clarifying concerns and issues raised by team members and guests.
  • Works Closely with the Outlet Manager to Supervise both Front of the House and Kitchen as schedule dictates.
  • As MOD, he/she occasionally will be responsible for overseeing the various building, departments and employees of Nationwide Hotel and Conference Center to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Assists with other duties as assigned by the Executive Chef.

Requirements

  • Long hours sometimes required, primarily on Saturdays with multiple events being executed on campus.
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and /or 80 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Ability to stand for long hours at the time.
  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
  • Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
  • Must be effective in handling opportunities in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding and clarifying concerns and issues raised by team members and guests.
  • Must have the Spirit of Hospitality and enjoy Guest Service, to both our internal and external guests.

 

  •  High School Diploma.
  •  2+ Years of experience in an upscale, high volume banquet kitchen.
  •  Culinary degree preferred.
  •  ServSafe Certified.
