Beaver Creek Ski and Snowboard School is now hiring FULL TIME and PART TIME positions for the Children's Ski Instructor for ages 3 to 6 years old, for the 2016-2017 season!

The Instructor will provide quality ski instruction to individuals and groups of children ages 3 to 6 in a safe and fun learning environment while upholding the Company guidelines and all Colorado Skier Safety Act rules/regulations.

The candidate MUST:

  • Be able to physically, clearly and accurately demonstrate assigned levels of the alpine skiing models
  • Provide a safe and fun learning environment through exceptional class handling and creativity using our teaching handbook as a guide
  • Effectively and clearly communicate instructions to children
  • Uphold the highest levels of guest safety on varied terrain in high altitude, with varying winter weather conditions
  • Be able to discuss the lesson content and evaluate the progress of the lesson with parents and/or legal guardians
  • Ensure that guests are matched to appropriate skier/snowboarding skill levels and work with supervisors/managers to make appropriate changes when necessary
  • Coach children to load and unload the chairlift and physically assist children with the process
  • Supervising children in lessons at all times; assisting at lunch and snack times; ensuring return of children to identified guardian
  • Have high level of guest service skills and experience
  • Understand and abide by the rules and procedures set forth in the Ski and Snowboard School Resource and Guidelines Manual
  • Possess high levels of creativity
  • Attend and be responsible for morning meeting information
  • Assist children with equipment
  • Assist in the operational responsibilities of the Ski & Snowboard School programs including but not limited to the registration process, direct guests to the appropriate equipment fitting source, upkeep of outdoor teaching areas, and cleanliness of facilities
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • REQUIRED: RESUME AND TWO LETTERS OF PROFESSIONAL RECOMMENDATION
  • Must possess level 6 or higher skiing ability - required
  • Must be 18 years of age or older - required
  • High School or Equivalent Education - required
  • Experience working with children between ages 3 to 12 - preferred
  • Previous experience with teaching/coaching/mentoring children - preferred
  • Must be available to work holidays and weekends - required
  • Must successfully complete the Background Check and scheduled training - required
  • Attend and successfully complete the Ski and Snowboard School training sessions - required
  • Must be fluent in all aspects of the English language (spoken and written) - required
  • Must have excellent guest service and communication skills - required
  • Must work well in a team environment - required
  • Must be able to work in inclement weather in a high alpine environment - required
  • Must have sight, speech, and hearing abilities sufficient to learn skills, follow and provide directions - required
  • Must be willing to adhere to the Vail Resorts policy of wearing an approved snowsports helmet  at all times while teaching - required
  • Knowledge of local area/resort - preferred
  • Knowledge of the Spanish language is helpful - preferred
  • Basic internet navigation - required
