OVERVIEW:
Working as a Full-Time Driver (DOT-CDL)- Class A, you will be representing the Fastenal fleet as it delivers from its Distribution Centers to its stores and customers.
Fastenal Drivers haul freight from our Regional Distribution Center located in Atlanta, Georgia to Fastenal stores throughout the Southeast Region of the United States. We operate a well maintained fleet of Freightliners that are no more than four years old. Deliveries are made to Fastenal stores primarily during overnight hours to allow us to have as many stores freight delivered as possible before opening at 7:00am. This means that the majority of driving is done at night with most routes scheduled departure time being 10:00-11:00pm. Delivery trucks are pre-loaded by DC employees prior to the routes departure. Drivers will unload the freight at each store along their route; most routes average 10-12 stops. Our delivery routes are "two-day" (28 hour max.) trips with the typical Driver running three of these each week. This means that our Drivers can expect to have time at home every-other day. All routes are pre-planned affording our Drivers the opportunity to know their schedule up to one week in advance.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
o Providing excellent service to our stores and customers by delivering in a prompt, efficient manner
o Interacting with our shipping and receiving departments
o Maintaining a clean work environment within our equipment
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
The skills and qualifications required for this position include:
o Excellent written and oral communication skills
o Current Class A Commercial Driver's License in good standing
o Current Health Card
o Strong working knowledge of the DOT regulations in regards to a CDL Driver
o Ability to meet our driving record requirements
o Current HazMat endorsement or the ability to get HazMat endorsement within 90 days of hire
o Ability to maintain DOT regulated Drivers Hours-of-Service (HOS) paperwork.
o Ability to safely lifting up to 70 lbs and maneuvering 150 lbs
o Ability to successfully complete the required DOT drug and alcohol screens, road test, employment verification, and background check
PREFERRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
o Previous driving experience
o Experience operating a forklift
