Overview:

Mercy Clinic, a regionally and nationally recognized leader in healthcare, is actively recruiting a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Electrophysiology team of Adult and Family Nurse Practitioners to provide inpatient cardiovascular care with focus in electrophysiology but will also cover general cardiology, interventional cardiology and advanced heart failure on the campus of Mercy Heart Hospital in St. Louis. Our team supports 21 cardiologists to provide comprehensive and state-of-the-art cardiovascular services consistent with our Mission, Values and Mercy Service Standards.

Responsibilities:

Our advanced practitioner inpatient service is the first line of communication for inpatient service taking phone calls from consulting MDs, floor nurses, office nurses, Rapid Access and other staff.

* Perform comprehensive electrophysiology and other cardiology patient assessments and formulate plan of care with patient and physician.

* Facilitate continuity of care within the group and make referrals as appropriate.

* Communicate patient care through appropriate documentation.

* Foster communication with patient and family in order to promote wellness, prevent health problems, maintain current health status and intervene in acute and chronic illness with explanation of disease process.

* Demonstrate advanced communication skills.

* Rotating Weekend Consult Service -- providing coverage on weekends with cardiology MD in lead role.

* Plan and facilitate the timely discharge process.

* Collaborate with physicians on patient coverage and patient delegation.

* Collaborate with nursing staff and physicians to improve relationships.

* Seek professional growth through participation in continuing education and staff development.

* Maintain current licensure and certification.

* Perform other work duties as assigned.
