About this job
This position is responsible for leading and executing the Grocery, Dairy, Frozen, GM/HBC, Liquor, Pricing and Receiving departments to exceed customers' service expectations but maintaining Roundy's Policies and Procedures. As a key store management team member, the Center Store Lead (CSL) delivers a shopping experience focused on providing customers with product that is in-stock, priced accurately and well signed. The CSL will work primarily stocking and driving the Auto Replenishment (AR) process in stores, while also assisting with several non-AR center store functions. The CSL will also maintain inventory accuracy on the sales floor and in the backroom.
Primary Responsibilities - (bullet points under numbered responsibilities are clarifying examples and are not meant to be an exhaustive list)
* People Focus - Sets example and creates environment encouraging teamwork, accountability and high achievement.
* Assists with production, stocking, perpetual inventory, daily work priorities, and display building in each of the center store departments.
* Coaches and mentors team members in merchandising methods and effective stocking best practices.
* Recognizes, mentors and acknowledges good performance, adherence to productivity standards, and safe working practices.
* Coordinates the output of the stocking crew to ensure the effective placement of product in a timely manner.
* Process Focus - Delivers standard of disciplined, high quality, high paced daily working and shopping conditions.
* Assists with management of AR preferred methods, tasks, and best practice.
* Ordering for non-AR center store merchandise (Eggs, Bread, Dairy DSDs, Charcoal, etc.)
* Maintains effective in-stock position, product storage, and staging areas.
* Responsible for proactive walks, exception counts, conditioning walks, daily dept-dept transfers from AR depts.
* Maintains high cleanliness standards - clean as you go.
* Performance Focus - Delivers financial results in sales, wages, gross margins, labor, supplies and shrink.
* Executes to achieve successful metrics in AR compliance.
* Assists GOM with vendor deliverables including accurate ordering, accurate shipments, product freshness and controlled back-stock and shrink.
* Daily store walks to monitor displays, sell through, and replenishment needs.
* Drives the flow of inventory to the customers through replenishment of merchandise to the sales floor from its staging area.
* Planning Focus - Develops weekly plans to deliver and improve upon People, Process and Performance objectives.
* Communicates daily with the store director and/or GOM on daily goals, accomplishments, and obstacles.
* Coaches and mentors team members.
* Creates prioritized work lists to improve the performance metrics of the team.
* Establishes team goals and communicates clearly on the READY boards.
Necessary Skills and Qualifications
* Strong Interpersonal, Process, and Analytical Skills are needed.
* Physical Skills - ability to lift/carry 36 to 100 lbs., push/pull 900 to 2200 lbs., kneeling, squatting, turning, standing, reaching, bending. Use of pallet jack, power jack, box cutter, compactor, etc.
* Education or Experience - Minimum High school education or currently enrolled.
* Environmental - Exposure
