Performs and maintains all activities necessary to process one or more payrolls weekly, including maintaining related records, filing tax reports, processing involuntary deductions such as levies and garnishments, preparing accounting transactions and documents, documenting and updating procedures, and preparing special reports for data integrity.

  • Process and maintain payroll database files and tables to include creating payroll models, maintaining earnings and managing employee tax tables for the processing of payroll using the Ultimate Software, UltiPro application.
  • Responsible for the processing of weekly and bi-weekly payrolls to include, opening payroll, balancing payroll, submission of tax, garnishment and direct deposit file transmissions, general ledger creation and tax reconciliation.
  • Assist in the administration of the Ultimate Time and Attendance (UTA) team management and security setup and maintain a good working knowledge of UTA administration and file creation. May be responsible for assisting and training CORT managers in the day-to-day processing and operation of UTA.
  • Develops custom reports using the UltiPro report writing solution to gather and report data as necessary in order to meet the requirements of the company, management and staff.
  • Assist in managing, maintaining and responding to content for payroll@cort.com email box. Distributes payroll requests as necessary to appropriate team members for processing.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and employee files within the payroll system. Creates and reviews audit reports to maintain a high level of data integrity and reconciliation of payroll account.
  • Ensure accurate employee tax set-up. Assist in the research of state and federal tax issues to include the processing of prior quarter adjustments.
  • Familiar with payroll policy and procedures – both internal and external that impact payroll processing (e.g., compliance issues).
  • Able to translate employee needs and requirements into system specification and requirements.
  • Maintain all interfaces for tax liability and wage disbursement information.
  • Assist with researching and resolving tax inquiries and delinquent tax notices.
  • Assist with necessary system adjustments/corrections that affect an employee's W-2 wages.
  • Support and collaborate with Benefits, HRIS, Human Resources and Accounting on payroll, deduction and account reconciliation issues.
  • Develop positive working relationships with Global Cash Card vendor in order to directly manage and control the outcome of issue resolution.


  • High school diploma or general education degree, (GED) College bachelor's degree preferred in a related area; 1-3 years of experience and/or training in the field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of payroll systems; internet software; Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Access
  • Basic fundamental knowledge of computer information systems and networking
  • Reliable transportation for business purposes and a valid local state driver's license
  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC)/Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is preferred
