Come help us heal and strengthen the health care system as you do your life's best work.(sm) Reporting to the Senior Associate General Counsel/Intellectual Property, the Copyright Paralegal is responsible for assisting the legal team with copyright permission requests and maintaining the enterprise copyright compliance programs. The Copyright Paralegal will be responsible for managing both in-coming and out-going permission requests, locating copyright owners, and drafting and negotiating copyright permission agreements. The Copyright Paralegal will need to provide high quality service to internal clients, provide support to internal/external counsel, other paralegals and a wide-range of internal company personnel. The Copyright Paralegal will also assist the IP legal team with management of the trademark portfolio and assist with domain name matters.Primary Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain copyright permission request process for both in-coming and out-going requests
Develop and maintain copyright educational content and copyright compliance programs
Conduct initial investigation of possible infringements
Maintain internal files for company’s intellectual property portfolio for registered copyrights
Assist Senior Associate General Counsel in procuring permission to use copyright material at the request of internal clients
Assist Senior Associate General Counsel on copyright matters, including, but not limited to, copyright registrations and renewals and recording changes in title
Perform internet research projects and other special projects on an as needed basis
Manage legal invoices

Requirements


Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree
5 years of paralegal or relevant experience
Paralegal Certificate
Copyright permissions drafting experience
Experience in developing and maintaining copyright compliance programs
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to manage, handle and prioritize multiple projects
Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting with paralegals, attorneys and business personnel of multiple levels
Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
The ability to work in a matrixed environment
Preferred Qualifications:

Project Management - some experience managing projects with multiple key owners, several components, and changing time frames
Interest in learning new software systems
Six Sigma experience or interest in lean legal processing and innovative management of portfolios
Experience working in a highly matrixed environment
Detail-oriented and good with numbers
Ability to work within a small team - sharing work and assignments as needed to ensure priority projects are handled within the appropriate timeframe
An independent thinker who knows when to seek guidance
Demonstrated research skills with a variety of vehicles - intranet, internet, Lexis-Nexis, networking, etc.
