Job Description
Hermitage Country Club is looking for an energetic, highly motivated and customer service oriented Retail Manager. The candidate must have 3+ years of merchandising experience in a mid to high end retail or golf setting, with some time in women's apparel. Private Club experience is not required but is a plus. The retail manager position is a Full-Time Position.
This position will include responsibilities in many areas of the operation including:
Customer Service
• Create a warm and friendly ambiance within the golf shop
• Provide a consistently high level of customer service to a discerning membership.
• Responsible for upholding Hermitage's 12 Standards of Service with a strong focus on member and guest satisfaction
• Always step out from behind the counter to help someone in the shop
• Greet all members and guests by name before they greet you
• Knowledge of buying habits for an active Ladies Association is a plus
• Be a team player who is enthusiastic with open communication and respect for themselves, the staff, members/guests, and the property
• Maintain records of members sizing for future orders
Financial Reporting
• Comply with all Club Standard Operating Procedures for Inventory Control, SKU Management, Stock and Special Orders and monthly physical inventory
• Prepare and properly code all invoices for payment within 3 days of receipt of both invoice and corresponding merchandise
• Ensure that special orders are charged properly to member accounts or as cash
General Shop Management
• Enforce all club rules and regulations governing the use of the club
• Become proficient in Jonas software and Club Essential Tee Time reservation system
• Monitor the Jonas and tee time systems to ensure accurate billing of daily transactions
• Have an understanding of club tournaments and events and be able to answer all questions from members and guests correctly
Merchandising and Marketing
• Assist the head golf professional in placing orders for the golf shop by meeting with sales representatives
• Responsible for the flow of merchandise from the point of delivery to the sales floor including: unpacking shipments, checking them in and pricing them and displaying them in the golf shop
• Manage all soft good purchases to provide members and guests with the most up to date selection possible
• Follow Special Order procedures including placing, tracking, and filing orders as well as communicating appropriately with members relative to each special order
• Attend local, section, and national merchandise shows, along with educational and professional seminars to encourage development and enhance the image of the club
• Develop a quarterly newsletter article about what is new in the golf shop
• Coordinate unique promotions in the shop
• Help keep a well displayed golf shop by folding, re-hanging and restocking merchandise daily and rearranging the golf shop on a monthly basis
• Work closely with vendors about what new trends might work well in the shop
Training
• Assist HP with hiring of all golf shop assistants
• Educate additional staff about all products allowing them the ability to answer questions in regards to merchandise
• Help staff become familiar with the policies and procedures of pricing and charging of goods
Job Information

Successful candidate should be prepared to work 5 days a week, including one weekend day, with the potential of 45 to 50 hours in season.


Experience Required
3+ yrs. of Retail experience
Knowledge of Private Country Club Merchandise Operations is not required, but preferred
Understanding of buying habits for an active Ladies Association is a plus
Candidate may be expected to attend club events throughout the year
