About this job

Responsible for the overnight operations of the hotel, verifying the accuracy of guest accounts, balancing the day’s charges, as well as assisting with all aspects of guest services.  

  • Greet, register and assign rooms to guests of hotel.
  • Make and confirm reservations.
  • Verify customers' credit and establish how the customer will pay for their accommodations.
  • Keep records of room availability and guests' accounts, manually or using computers.
  • Operate 10-key calculators, computers and fax/copy machines to perform calculations and produce documents.
  • Transmit and receive messages to and from guests and hotel staff, using telephones, radios or telephone switchboards.
  • Contact housekeeping/houseman or maintenance staff when guests report problems.
  • Answer inquiries pertaining to hotel services, registration, local shopping, dining, entertainment and travel directions. 
  • Arrange shuttle/taxis for guests.
  • Deposit guests' valuables in hotel safes or grant access to safe-deposit boxes in guest room, where applicable.
  • Compute bills, collect payments and make change for guests.
  • Post charges, such as those for rooms, food, liquor or telephone calls, to ledgers by using computers.
  • Review accounts and charges with guests during the check-out process.
  • Resolve guests’ concerns and document guests’ comments.
  • Check figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codes.
  • Operate computers programmed with accounting software to record, store and analyze information.
  • Calculate, prepare and issue bills, invoices, account statements and other financial statements according to established procedures.
  • Compile statistical, financial, accounting or auditing reports and tables pertaining to such matters as cash receipts, expenditures, accounts payable/receivable and profits/losses using software and spreadsheets.
  • Prepare, maintain and distribute reports to accounting after reconciling all revenue postings.
  • Comply with federal, state, brand and company policies, procedures and regulations.

Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

This is a full time position.  Must be able to work holidays and weekends.

Previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required.

Some college, vocational training or job-related course work required.

An associate's or a bachelor's degree preferred.

Accounting background helpful. 

Customer Service skills required.
