Job Summary





The Creative Services Department provides solutions to Marriott International’s internal clients for a range of audio, visual, digital/multimedia, collateral design, photography, and event production needs. The Senior Accounting Assistant, Creative Services, performs accounting functions in support of the department’s financial tracking, processing and reporting requirements. This position is responsible for the general accounting support to the department, and assists with small projects and business processes for assigned home departments and service departments; no direct financial accountability. Additionally, this position will develop alternatives and solutions where guidelines are not available, interpret internal policies and procedures and function as a resource to others.

The Senior Accounting Assistant will report directly to the Managing Director, Creative Operations, with dotted line reporting to the Senior Manager, Traffic & Client Services, Creative Services.
Expected Contributions



This position is responsible for overall coordination of the Creative Services financial services and budget, including:
  • Reconciles monthly accounts and researches/resolves discrepancies.
  • Assists in the completion of yearly budgets and monthly budgets/forecasts for Creative Services department.
  • Collects financial data from multiple sources to prepare accounting entries; researches problems encountered with the data or responds to inquiries regarding the entries.
  • Verifies mathematical accuracy of accounting documents and reports. Determines and makes appropriate corrections.
  • Creates correspondence, price bids and coordinates purchases with outside vendors for the Managing Director, Creative Operations.
  • Creates, tracks and reconciles purchase orders.
  • Manages Fixed Asset Inventory tracking and disposal as assigned.
  • May audit expense reports for conformity with internal policy.
  • Processes data through an automated accounting system to record items such as operating expenses/accounts payable, travel expenses and other miscellaneous journal entries. Verifies the accuracy of the entries by analyzing edit reports.
  • Reviews transactions rejected by the accounting system. Researches the reason for the rejection (e.g., coding, mathematical errors) and prepares the correcting entries.
  • Performs data entry into a sophisticated tracking or reporting system utilizing spreadsheet, database or mainframe applications to develop detailed, complex back-up schedules for accounting entries.
  • Reconciles discrepancies in amounts charged to accounts including complex accounts (e.g., bank accounts) that contain specialized non-recurring transactions. Researches discrepancies and unusual transactions/issues. Identifies errors, assesses the impact of the error and proposes corrections.
  • Compiles and distributes financial reports.
  • Maintains filing systems within department; retrieves documents and responds to requests for information from the documents as necessary.

Requirements for Position:



Successful candidates should possess the knowledge, skills and experience as follows:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate/Bachelor’s degree, certification, or continuing education preferred.
  • Minimum of four (4) years administrative or clerical support experience required.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required (including ability to create and use advanced functions such as Vlookup, Pivot Tables, Graphs/Charts). Expert Microsoft Office skills preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Marriott’s various reporting tools (Mosaic Reports, GL Reports, MICS Report, OnDemand Reports, PeopleSoft) and Advantage software, preferred.
  • Experience in a technology organization (understands technology-related terms), or accounting function responsible for multiple departments with $50M+ annual transaction volume preferred.
  • Solid writing skills.
  • Ability to set appropriate priorities and work with minimal supervision.
  • Organized and detailed-oriented, with exceptional time management skills.
  • Customer oriented with exceptional interpersonal skills, coupled with proven analytical, negotiation and conflict-resolution abilities.
