JOB SUMMARY:

Manage all associated Inside Plant activities. Manage staff responsible for the reception, and distribution of off-air, satellite, microwave, and digital transport programming up to the outside plant utilizing coaxial cable, microwave, and fiber optic transmission technologies. This includes the installation, construction, operation and repair of all equipment associated with the HE, Hubs and Optical Transport Network (OTN). Manage Hub, HE, and OTN Critical Infrastructure systems and equipment, including capacity management, electrical installations (AC & DC), equipment upgrades, and physical building construction projects, as required. Provide direction on day-to-day activities. Manage on-call rotation as necessary. Responsible for the hiring, firing, training, development, and performance management of staff. Assist in the budgeting processes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience
Develop an effective Inside Plant Operations team and assist them with developing their skills and process adherence as to drive a high performance culture and environment
Ensure structured, consistent and disciplined execution of work tasks
Ensure all cabling, equipment installation, power and cooling is in compliance with corporate TQA and ISP Playbook standards.
Manage the maintenance and repair of critical infrastructure equipment and systems.
Manage critical infrastructure capacity, and develop and implement action plans to remediate or upgrade capacity deficiencies.
Ensure field compliance with corporate standards, as well as Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulations
Ensure ongoing training for technical personnel
Establish positive employee relations through effective communication and ongoing support
Participate in assembling capital budget needs
Notify senior management of activities and issues
Manage responses to equipment failures and trouble events so as to avoid impact to the customer.
Handle and resolve difficult issues
Set priorities for leads and participate in the review of performance of staff
Ensure all required logs, records and other documentation are in compliance with company and FCC technical requirements
Oversee FCC Proof of Performance testing
Adhere to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable
Know, understand and follow company policies
Perform other duties as requested by manager

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to read, write and speak the English language to communicate with employees, customers, suppliers, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straight-forward, and professional manner
Ability to use personal computer and software applications
Ability to use handheld communication devices and applications
Ability to differentiate between different sizes and colors of wires
Ability to make cable connections in tight spaces by bending, reaching, twisting
Ability to work with small components and wires to make cable connections
Ability to use the following hand tools: electric drills, hammers, wrenches, screwdrivers
Ability to safely use weight-bearing equipment (such as ladders) within the maximum limitations of that equipment)
Ability to accurately measure distances, using tapes or other measuring devices
Ability to read general system layouts from blue prints and system maps
Ability to operate appropriate computer or test equipment associated with position
Ability to prioritize and organize effectively
Ability to work independently
Ability to work while standing 50 - 70% of the time
Knowledge of basic mathematics and electronics
In-depth proficiency of designing, installing and maintaining critical facility systems and service delivery equipment for all products
Knowledge of basic electricity, including AC and DC power equipment and electrical circuit installations.
Ability to read and interpret single-line electrical diagrams, and building construction documents (blue prints).
Knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC), National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA) codes, Air Quality Management District (AQMD) laws, Hazardous Materials handling and response, and the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics/Technology or Sciences and / or equivalent work experience
HE Technician, cable technician or electronics work experience 8+ years
Some engineering experience 2+ years
Management experience 4+ years
Project management experience 2+ years

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to walk over all types of terrain in all kinds of weather while carrying tools and equipment, including ladders and fully loaded tool belts
Ability to perform job from high places (roofs)
Knowledge of company products and services
In-depth understanding of and demonstrated ability to teach advanced video networking, IP networking and DOCSIS
Ability to manage multiple priorities
Ability to supervise and motivate others
Demonstrated leadership qualities
Ability to maintain confidentiality

CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR LICENSES:

Driving is a requirement for this position. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License and safe driving record.
NCTI Master Technician Certification or SCTE, BDS, BTS, BTCS Certifications
Desirable: CCNA, CCDA
Individual has gained pertinent vendor certifications to bolster his or her effectiveness, such as: HVAC (Liebert, Trane, etc.), UPS / Inverter Vendor Certifications (Liebert, Alpha, etc.), Transport Vendor Certifications and Training (Aurora, Cisco, ARRIS, etc.)
