Optum Medical Network (OMN) is a network of health care providers in the Southwest, whose mission is to connect and support providers by working together to deliver the most effective and compassionate care to each and every patient they serve.  Optum Medical Network’s focus is to do the right things for patients, physicians, and the community. Optum Medical Network’s Core Business is contracting directly with health insurers to deliver a highly personal care management and service model to their patients.  The current focus of Optum Medical Network is on seniors, and those with complex care needs, who most benefit from a high touch model of care.
 
This position will support our providers in the clinic setting by rooming patients, setting up rooms for minor procedures, taking patient telephone calls, and calling patients with test results. We are looking for people with high level customer service skills who will treat customers with professionalism, patience and compassion.
 
Primary Responsibilities:


Performs any combination of the following duties under the direction of the provider to assist in the examination and treatment of patients

Interviews patients

Measures vital signs, such a pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight and height, and records information in the electronic health record

Prepares treatment rooms for the examination of patients

Drapes patient with covering and positions instruments and equipment

Hands instrument to provider as directed

Operates electrocardiograph (EKG), spirometer, DPN, flo check, and other equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests

Performs phlebotomy

Gives injections or treatments

Notifies patients of test results

Call, fax, or e - prescribe new prescriptions at the request of the prescriber

Authorizes prescription refills

Documents in the medical record when any of the above activities take place

Requirements

 Required Qualifications:


High school diploma or equivalent
Graduate from an accredited *Medical Assistant program* (see note below)
2+ years of experience in an outpatient setting
Knowledge of senior population with complex problems
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Flexible and adaptable to work with all types of member communication styles / personalities
Ability to multi-task and work as part of a collaborative team
Problem solving and decision making skills
Demonstrate accuracy, timeliness, and attention to detail
Electronic Medical Records (EMR) experience
Preferred Qualifications: 

CPR certified
*Must complete an approved training program. Approved medical assistant training program' means a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP); the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES); a medical assisting program accredited by any accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education; or a training program designed and offered by a licensed allopathic physician that meets or exceeds any of the prescribed accrediting programs and verifies the entry-level competencies of a medical assistant prescribed under R4-16-402 NP scope of practice.
