About this job

Job Description:

  • Receives incoming calls from patients with emergent and urgent concerns or questions regarding their health
  • Performs a systematic, comprehensive interview of the caller/patient to determine the urgency of the patient's problem
  • Makes referrals to the appropriate level of care within an appropriate period of time
  • Schedules same-day appointments or follow-up appointments with the patient's primary care provider or alternative health care provider as necessary
  • Accurately documents data for all calls including, but not limited to, patient's demographic information, chief complaint, recommendations for home treatment, and referrals to primary care provider or alternative health care provider

Qualifications:

  • Current RN License
  • 3-5 years of experience with Triage
  • Taking inbound calls and about 70 calls in an 8 hour shift
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing, current Illinois Registered Nurse License
  • Three to five years in critical care or Med Surge or someone with various departments
  • Knowledge in current concepts of medical-surgical, pediatric, obstetrics/gynecology, behavioral health, and pharmacology.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) required (May be required to translate for non-English/Spanish only speaking patients and/or guests.)
