Job Summary:
The UNIX Administrator is responsible for provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of UNIX/Linux system hardware, software, and related infrastructure. This individual ensures that UNIX/Linux systems adhere to technical standards and perform within operational commitments.

This individual is accountable for the following systems and processes: Linux and UNIX servers that support business operations; storage area networks and storage related infrastructure; performance monitoring and capacity planning.

Job Responsibilities
  • System administration (including backup, security management, user account management, and applications support)
  • Support server hardware, software, and applications. Provide support and administration for SAN and NAS infrastructure and devices.
  • Advanced administration of Linux/UNIX systems, including shell scripting and task automation.
  • Provide support for Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Server platform.
  • Maintain system patch levels and software version control.
  • Perform technological needs analysis for new projects.
  • Participate in enterprise technical capacity planning and forecasting.
  • Develops, implements, and supports technical infrastructure plans and procedures.
  • Manage and oversee systems architecture, reliability, and perform root cause analysis of equipment, process and service failures.
  • Assists with technology planning through ongoing research.
  • Provides on-call support for critical production systems.
  • Adhere to all points of the creed


Equivalent Education Level Required:
Associates Degree or 2-4 years equivalent job experience. Linux or UNIX certifications preferred.

Experience Required:
2-4 years' experience in supporting a production UNIX data center environment.

Knowledge Required:
Strong troubleshooting skills in supporting Linux/UNIX environments.
Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose advanced system problems.
Working knowledge of TCP/IP protocol suite.
Proven verbal and written communication skills.
Must be very detail oriented.
