This positions primary responsibility is to maintain all conveyor and building systems in order to support the goals of the DC. Secondary responsibility is to maintain rolling stock assets
A thorough understanding of mechanical, electrical and operational controls associated with the conveyor systems and building equipment and components is required in order to maintain assets in a quality fashion
The job scope includes recommending changes to and executing preventative maintenance programs and repairs to automated sorting equipment, associated conveyors, material handling equipment, building envelope and building MEP (mechanical/electrical/plumbing) systems
This position will be responsible for properly completing work requests as well as projects of a complex nature

Major responsibilities and duties:

• Performs routine preventative maintenance on building systems such as fire protection, building life safety, security, HVAC equipment, dock equipment, building envelope, conveyor systems, rolling stock and storage racks to maximize the useful life of the facility assets.
• Assists with developing preventative maintenance programs as appropriate. Recommends improvements to existing preventative maintenance programs.
• Performs light carpentry, plumbing, welding, mechanical and electrical work.
• Utilizes the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to get work assignments to repair, replace, or remove equipment, fixtures, or furniture. CMMS is also used as an asset management tool and to maintain inventory for all parts.
• Trouble shoots and repairs the mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and control system components of conveyor systems and building components, including but not limited to: PLCs, DC drivers, AC invertors, label machines and server motors.
• Able to work independently on projects and work assignments.
• Oversee work of contractors and service providers.
• Able to operate all material handling and mobile equipment within the Distribution Center.
• Perform work requests and projects as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Minimum of 5 years of building and equipment maintenance experience with two years maintaining Rapistan or similar type conveyor systems.

Minimum Years of Experience:

Education Requirement:
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical degree preferred.
• Completion of technical training in electronic controls, HVAC and PLC programming.
• Must have or be able to attain Refrigerant certification.
• Certified to operate material handling and lift equipment.
• Computer literate – specifically using the MS Office and Outlook products.

• Knowledge and application of safe work practices.
• Ability to follow directions with attention to detail and record keeping.
• Possesses skills to operate, trouble shoot and resolve problems associated with computer controlled building systems, conveyor systems, and maintenance management systems.
• Easily adjusts to changes in priorities, and flexible to respond to on-call emergencies.
• Ability to work at heights and in unusual positions.
• Ability to grasp, bend and lift up to 75 pounds on a regular basis.
• Skilled at using electrical test equipment, hand tools, power tools, calipers, gauges, etc.
• Ability to read and interpret MEP (Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing) drawings and schematics.
• Demonstrates problem resolution for complex problems and utilizes efficient work practices.
• Cross-trains and provides guidance to less experienced employees.
• Provides recommendations for process improvements.
• Works in cross-functional teams and work groups to identify and resolve problems by proposing unique and innovative solutions.
• Develops parts list for procuring material for work assignments.
• Keeps supervisor and customers informed of progress on assignments and projects.
• Highly effective English communication skills that enables easy understanding of technical information being communicated.
• High level of knowledge and understanding of codes such as the NEC, BOCA and/or UBC, and OSHA.
• Must be able to understand and be knowledgeable of MSDS information.
• Possesses an excellent attendance record; is flexible with work schedule.
• Must be available for 24-hour on-call rotation.
• Must be physically able to pass respirator test (PAPR).
