A large, not-for-profit health system in Eastern Tennessee is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Finance Manager to lead their collections department.

The system has many acute care hospitals, plus outpatient centers, rehabilitation hospitals and a primary care network.

The Manager of Patient Accounts will be responsible for the daily operations of the Collections Department within the Patient Accounts Division. This position has two main spheres of influence, human resource management and managing the operations related to tracking and resolving bad debt across the system. The position reports to the Director of Patient Accounting and the Manager of Patient Accounting will work closely with this person on strategic planning, solving complex issues to make the department run efficiently and optimize the revenue cycle.

The Manager Hospital Collections will manage a team of 30 employees, including hiring, training, evaluation and counseling, scheduling and timekeeping and, if necessary, dismissal. The Manager of Finance will work closely with the staff to ensure policy, compliance and procedure is followed, and will help staff to solve problems when necessary.

The Manager of Patient Accounts will be the liaison system-wide to all collection agencies and third party payers that the system works with. This position will also work closely with patients, providers, insurance companies, and peers enterprise-wide. The Manager of Accounts Receivable requires a high degree of professionalism and a proven track record of providing excellent customer service.4

This position requires hospital experience, as well as a working knowledge of hospital collections guidelines, Medicare/Medicaid and third party payor rules. A degree in finance, accounting or business is preferred.
