The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit CNS will be part of a hospital that has been serving the surrounding communities with the best quality of patient care for almost 80 years. In recent years, the facility has been recognized for providing area residents with highest quality of patient care and superior clinical outcomes.

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit CNS will be responsible for coordination and assessment of critical care educational development including clinical competency of the nursing staff in the Children's Services areas. The NICU CNS will have oversight of staff development and ensuring the implementation of a coordinated and effective discharge planning program.

The NICU CNS will also have responsibility for pediatrics and assist with newborn nursery. The Clinical Nurse Specialist will work in a busy 15 bed NICU with 24 hour in-house board certified neonatology coverage. The CNS will collaborate closely with Nurse Managers and will report to the Director of Perinatal Services.

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit CNS will have specialized knowledge and skills that will be used within three major areas of focus: patient direct care, nurses and nursing practice, and the organization and systems. The NICU CNS and nursing administration are partners in leading the nursing clinical practice area, specialty or program.

The NICU CNS will work in a 300 plus bed with all private patient rooms.
