About this job

Aluminum Manufacturing Company in Santa Ana is currently hiring for a 1st shift Junior Buyer.

The Junior Buyer is responsible for supporting the purchasing department with the purchases of general supplies and services for the company and to ensure timely delivery of purchase orders. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a purchasing department and the ability to process data, organize work and utilize an ERP system.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Process purchase orders in computer system and review for accuracy and completeness.
  • Expedite and follow up with suppliers on past due purchase orders.
  • Interact with suppliers to ensure correct parts are delivered on-time and at the quoted prices.
  • Coordinate resolution of invoice discrepancies.
  • Recommend new suppliers or alternate products to reduce costs while still meeting requestor requirements.
  • Work with suppliers to resolve discrepancies and return items.
  • Independently resolve basic logistic and procedure problems.
  • Assure all relevant documents are prepared and retained to company standards.
  • Maintain files and records of both computerized and hard copy files.
  • Strive for accuracy and organization.
  • Maintain a safe work environment.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience

  • High School diploma/GED.
  • 1-2 years purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of purchasing, manufacturing and operational processes.
  • General understanding of finance and accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of ERP computer data entry and reporting systems preferred.
  • Strong customer service focus.

Computer Skills

  • Intermediate - Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook; Internet-based programs, E-mail, Scanning, experience with an ERP system (e.g. IFS).

Language Skills

  • English (reading, writing, verbal and comprehension).
  • Able to communicate with visitors, customers, vendors, co-workers, supervisor, and other personnel.

Mathematical Skills

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize and multitask in fast paced environment.
  • Ability to analyze and negotiate cost(s) with supplier.
